The Indian Army and Uttar Pradesh government coordinated with civil authorities to help the daughter of a late Territorial Army officer legally reclaim her ancestral home in Lucknow.
The Indian Army, working in close coordination with the Uttar Pradesh government, has helped the daughter of a late Territorial Army officer reclaim her ancestral home, underscoring the force’s commitment to the welfare and dignity of its extended military family.
The recovery of the ancestral residence of Ms Anjana Bhatt was carried out through a lawful, structured and sustained process in coordination with the state’s civil administration. Officials described the effort as both decisive and compassionate.
Bhatt, the daughter of a deceased Territorial Army officer, had been facing prolonged personal, medical and legal hardship after anti-social elements illegally occupied her ancestral property. With limited immediate family support, the situation left her vulnerable and without recourse for an extended period.
Taking note of her circumstances, the Indian Army, under the aegis of the Central Uttar Pradesh Sub Area, stepped in to fulfil what it described as its moral and institutional responsibility. The Army ensured Bhatt’s safety and welfare while initiating steps to secure legal justice.
As part of the initiative, her well-being was continuously monitored and institutional support was extended. After a detailed assessment, coordinated administrative and legal action was launched to free the illegally occupied property. Throughout the process, the Army maintained close coordination with district authorities, law enforcement agencies and legal representatives to ensure transparency, legality and timely execution.
Major Vishal Kanojia was formally appointed as Bhatt’s foster guardian to oversee and coordinate the entire process. Acting on behalf of the Army, he ensured regular follow-up of legal proceedings, facilitated coordination with civil authorities and provided consistent personal support during a difficult period. Officials said his sustained efforts helped prevent further exploitation and ensured effective protection of her rights.
These coordinated efforts culminated on January 1, 2026, when swift and effective action led to the peaceful eviction of illegal occupants and the lawful restoration of Bhatt’s ancestral home. The operation was carried out strictly within the legal framework and with full cooperation from the civil administration, officials said, calling it a clear example of robust military–civil coordination.
Following the successful recovery, Bhatt met Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday to express her gratitude for the state government’s prompt and sensitive support. The meeting was attended by Major General Manish Kukreti, General Officer Commanding, Central Uttar Pradesh Sub Area; Mrs Sangeeta Kukreti, President of the Central Uttar Pradesh Sub Area Family Welfare Organisation; and Major Vishal Kanojia.
