Preliminary inquiry suggested that 21-year-old Bonu Komali, a YouTuber as well as a college student, had been in severe emotional distress in recent months. She had sent a message, expressing affection, to her mother before being found dead at her Hyderabad flat.
I’m scared to move on – these are the words from the last entry in the diary of a 21-year-old YouTuber and a college student who was found dead in her rented flat in Hyderabad on Wednesday.
Bonu Komali had been in severe emotional distress, having broken up with her boyfriend nearly a year ago. She had sent an affectionate text to her mother, who works in Kuwait, which read cryptic and thus triggered concern. After several calls to Komali went unanswered, the mother alerted the YouTuber’s friends and asked them to check on her.
Upon visiting her flat in Hyderabad’s Manikonda, Komali’s friends found the door locked from inside. They immediately informed the police, who arrived and broke into the place to find the 21-year-old dead.
A diary and several other papers were recovered from the site. The last entry to the diary was on February 21, where Komali described how she was struggling to cope with the breakup.
“I’m scared to move on because what if he comes back? I know I should let go, I know he is not mine, I know he’s not even trying to stay. But a part of me still waits, still hopes, still imagines him choosing me one day. And that’s why moving on feels impossible, because what if the moment I finally walk away, he turns around and looks for me?” the entry read.
Sources told India Today that Komali had recently contacted her ex-boyfriend, asking him to meet her at the flat. A CCTV footage has surfaced of their meeting, showing her standing at the door as the man quietly turns around and leaves.
During the meeting, Komali allegedly requested her ex-boyfriend for reconciliation. However, he declined her request and left the flat.
She had attempted suicide six months before as well, which her mother came to know about later and learnt it was because of relationship failure issues.
