A fresh controversy has erupted in Maharashtra over administrative decisions taken on January 28, the same day news of senior leader Ajit Pawar’s plane incident emerged, triggering widespread political and bureaucratic activity in the state.
According to sources, the Maharashtra Minority Department cleared as many as 75 files related to minority schools on January 28. The files reportedly included proposals linked to recognition and approvals for minority educational institutions. The development has raised serious questions in political and administrative circles, with opposition parties alleging irregularities in the sudden clearance of such a large number of files in a single day.

The issue has also led to administrative action. Milind Shenoy, Deputy Secretary in the Maharashtra Minority Department, has been transferred amid the controversy.
Sources said the government has initiated an inquiry into the matter and further action is also underway.
Several key questions are now being raised: why and how were 75 files signed on the same day, whether all proposals underwent proper verification and legal procedures, and whether the approvals had been pre-planned or granted suddenly.
