The suicide note mentioned the names of two colleagues, accusing them of repeatedly humiliating him in front of other colleagues and depriving him of favorable work assignments.
A case of alleged abetment to suicide has been registered against three persons, including two employees of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), following the death of a 48-year-old staffer of the IT major, police said on Friday.
The case was registered at the Bhosari police station in neighbouring Pimpri-Chinchwad city on the basis of a complaint filed by the deceased employee’s son, PTI reported.
The deceased, identified as Amit Brahme, was employed at the Hinjawadi office of TCS and allegedly hanged himself at his residence in Bhosari on June 2, the official said.
Suicide Note Mentions Harassment, Bias
According to police, a purported suicide note recovered from the spot named a friend, Vinod Palicha, for allegedly sending defamatory emails about Brahme to the company.
The note also mentioned two female colleagues, identified as Archana and Shashwati, accusing them of repeatedly humiliating him in front of other colleagues, denying him favourable work assignments and allocating projects outside his area of expertise, the official said.
The suicide note further claimed that the two women reprimanded him over his performance, asked him to resign in the presence of co-workers and threatened to give adverse feedback, the police official added.
“We have registered a case under section 108 (abetment of suicide) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and are conducting further investigation. No arrest has been made so far,” the official said.
In a statement, TCS said it had taken note of the allegations levelled against its employees and was in the process of ascertaining the facts.
“The wellbeing of our employees is of utmost importance to us and we are extending all support to the bereaved family. We have also taken note of the allegations against the two employees and are ascertaining the facts,” the company said.
