The Government of India is closely monitoring the evolving situation in West Asia and the Gulf region, with a focus on the welfare of Indian nationals stranded there during transit or on short visits, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Saturday.
ADVISORIES AND HELPLINES IN PLACE
Indian nationals in the region have been advised to follow local authority guidelines as well as advisories issued by Indian Embassies and Consulates. Each mission has set up 24×7 helplines to address concerns arising from the ongoing situation. The MEA has also established a dedicated Special Control Room to respond to queries from affected individuals and their families. Details of the helplines are available on the MEA website.
COMMERCIAL FLIGHTS RESUME
Following partial reopening of airspace in recent days, Indian and foreign airlines have resumed commercial flights, including non-scheduled operations, enabling the safe return of stranded Indian passengers. Between March 1-7, 2026, over 52,000 Indians returned from the Gulf, including 32,107 on Indian carriers, with more flights planned in the coming days.
