The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an alert regarding possible rough weather conditions in the Arabian Sea near the coasts of Maharashtra and Goa from May 21 to May 24. A low-pressure area is expected to develop over the sea starting from Wednesday (May 21), which could gradually intensify and move northwards by Saturday (May 24). The information was shared by Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), Maharashtra on their official social media account.
No Direct Threat, But the Sea May Be Rough
Although there is no direct threat to the coastal regions of Maharashtra, the IMD has stated that the sea is likely to remain disturbed and rough due to the weather system. The effects of this development will be felt particularly between May 22 and May 24, during which the sea near coastal areas like Raigad, Ratnagiri, Mumbai and Palghar could become turbulent.
