According to a report in India Today, authorities are actively investigating the incident and have launched a manhunt to identify those responsible. A threatening social media post, written in Hindi, has since surfaced claiming responsibility for the attack. The post issued a direct warning to the film industry, calling the firing “just a trailer” and threatening further violence against those perceived to insult religious sentiments. The message read in part, “The insult of our deities will not be tolerated. This was just a trailer. Next time, if she or anyone else shows disrespect towards our religion, then no one in their house will be left alive… This message is not just for her, but also for all the artists of the film industry.”
Police have confirmed that the authenticity of the post is being verified, and a cyber investigation is underway to trace its origin. They also stated that security has been tightened around the Patani residence and in the area.
Songs of Forgotten Trees director Anuparna Roy said that if she “supports Palestine, if I am standing against injustice, it doesn’t make me less Indian.”

Debutant filmmaker Anuparna Roy scripted history by winning the Orizzonti Award for Best Director at the 82nd Venice Film Festival for her film, Songs of Forgotten Trees.
While a visibly moved Anuparna delivered a heartwarming speech on the stage, dedicating her win to all the women across the world, it was her striking commentary on Palestine that stirred a controversy. Her remarks drew strong reactions in the country.
Speaking to ANI, Anuparna Roy voiced her strong stance against “injustice” in the world. “I meant whatever I said at the festival. It was said with the intention of pointing out the injustice around the world. If I support Palestine, if I am standing against injustice, it doesn’t make me less Indian. People are thinking that I have spoken about it for the first time, but it’s not that. I mentioned Palestine while receiving an award in Russia. This doesn’t mean that I will not talk about the genocides or the violence in Nepal,” she shared.
“I request everyone to celebrate the achievement and not ‘politicise’ it in such a manner. I don’t represent anything,” she added.
Anuparna Roy went on to reveal how she was advised by filmmaker Anurag Kashyap to avoid Palestine-related comments at the event.
“People are claiming that I made the comments under the influence of Anurag Kashyap, but I was strictly advised by my producers, my mentor, and Anurag Kashyap himself that I don’t need to talk about it. I went beyond their advice and said it all. Now I understand why they asked me to avoid it. Things have been going completely against me. People are even calling me a traitor. But I am not angry at all. I made one film and I will make another one,” Anuparna said.
“I will continue to speak against injustice. I believe such things should come into discussion, whether it is Kashmir, Murshidabad, or Gujarat,” the filmmaker asserted.
While accepting her Best Director Award at the Venice Film Festival, Anuparna Roy stood up for Palestine. “Every child deserves peace, freedom, liberation and Palestinians are no exception… It’s a responsibility at the moment to stand by Palestine…. “I might upset my country, but it doesn’t matter to me anymore,” she said, as quoted by Deadline.
Manoj Bajpayee talks about independent cinema and box office, ahead of the release of his new film, Jugnuma.
Manoj Bajpayee talks about independent cinema and box office.
Actor Manoj Bajpayee is not a fan of film producers and studios throwing around box office numbers to promote their titles. The actor, who balances commercial and independent cinema, says this obsession with box office is a monster that will ‘eat up’ its own creators.
The actor is gearing up for the release of Jugnuma, directed by Raam Reddy. The film has earned acclaim worldwide as The Fable and is finally getting a release in Indian theatres this month. Ahead of the release, the National Award winner sits down with Hindustan Times to talk about the state of independent films in the country and the newfound obsession with the box office.
On the box office monster
Over the last few years, box office numbers have turned into promotional tools to leverage buzz for films. Talking about the phenomenon, Manoj says, “It’s a monster that is created by the producers themselves, the commercial producers, for their own game. Very soon, this monster is going to eat you up. You have created Bhasmasura. Just wait for the day you are going to put your hand on your own head, and you will be ruined. This has been created by our own successful people, and one day it will eat them up.”
OTT’s change of stance
Equating box office success with quality has particularly hurt smaller, independent films, as their low collections are now considered a sign of bad quality. Manoj argues, “The small, independent films always experience struggle. Then came a very brief time when OTT had just entered the country, and they were welcoming. But very soon, they changed their stance, and all of them started focusing on mainstream subjects and faces. One feels sad, because I am of the opinion that if you finish independent movement, your cinema will become just a product and nothing more. If the art is taken out, it has no value.”
He gives the example of Amitabh Bachchan, a rare superstar who also did smaller films during the peak of his stardom. “Mr Bachchan has also done a few fabulous (small) films like Abhimaan and Mili. He has done many more. Only Don, after a point, will be boring. He is Mr Bachchan also because of the kind of films he has done earlier in his career,” says the actor.
A new picture of Salman Khan from the ‘Battle of Galwan’ shoot in Ladakh has emerged, showcasing his physical transformation for the role of Colonel B Santosh Babu. The film is directed by Apoorva Lakhia.

Salman Khan’s latest picture from the ‘Battle of Galwan’ shoot in Ladakh has surfaced on social media, capturing the actor’s transformation for his role as Colonel B Santosh Babu. The photo, taken during the film’s schedule in Ladakh, shows Khan in a fit form, posing with fans. His dedication to embodying the character has earned appreciation.
The image, gaining traction online, features Salman Khan highlighting his toned physique. This glimpse has been well-received, with fans praising his efforts to portray the late Colonel B Santosh Babu, a key figure in the real-life conflict depicted in the film.
In ‘Battle of Galwan’, Salman Khan takes on the role of Colonel B Santosh Babu, who played a significant part in the 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese troops. This confrontation is central to the film’s narrative, paying homage to the sacrifices made by Indian soldiers.
The Ladakh schedule has been notable for its challenging landscape and significance to the film’s setting. Khan has been seen engaging with locals and fans.
Currently, Salman Khan is shooting the climax portions in the ongoing Ladakh schedule, which is expected to go on for 2-3 weeks. “Galwan’s climax is among the most important parts of the film, both visually and emotionally. Given Leh and Ladakh’s unpredictable weather, the makers want to ensure the quality of these sequences is not compromised. That is why they are planning to complete as much as possible during this schedule itself,” a source informed.
‘Battle of Galwan’ aims to depict the events of the 2020 clash, focusing on the courage and strategic acumen of the Indian Army. The film is expected to provide a dramatic retelling of the encounter, highlighting the leadership of figures like Colonel Babu. The film is directed by Apoorva Lakhia and will feature Chitrangda Singh, Abhilash Chaudhary, Ankur Bhatia and several others alongside Salman Khan.
Karisma Kapoor’s kids have moved Delhi HC in Sunjay Kapur’s property row. Here’s a look at her net worth and past settlement with the late industrialist.
Karisma Kapoor and Sunjay Kapur parted ways in 2016 after a tumultuous 13-year-long marriage.
Karisma Kapoor’s personal life has once again come into the spotlight due to a legal battle involving her children and the massive Rs 30,000 crore estate of her ex-husband, late industrialist Sunjay Kapur.
Kiaan and Samaira, Karisma’s children with Kapur, have now approached the Delhi High Court, alleging that their stepmother Priya Sachdev Kapur manipulated the will of the late businessman to take complete control of his assets.
Sunjay Kapur, who passed away at the age of 53 after suffering a cardiac arrest during a polo match, was the chairman of auto component giant Sona Comstar. His sudden death left behind not just a huge industrial legacy but also a family feud that has since turned legal.
The Divorce Settlement Between Karisma and Sunjay Kapur
Karisma Kapoor and Sunjay Kapur tied the knot in 2003 in a traditional Sikh ceremony in Mumbai, a high-profile affair that made headlines across the city. But their marriage was troubled right from the start. By 2014, they had officially separated, and in 2016, the couple finalized their divorce after a long and bitter court battle.
During the proceedings, Karisma made several allegations of domestic violence and dowry harassment against Kapur and his family. As part of the settlement, media reports suggest that Sunjay Kapur paid Karisma around Rs 70 crore. Additionally, he provided bonds worth Rs 14 crore in the names of their two children, which also carry an interest payment of Rs 10 lakh.
The actress also reportedly received possession of a lavish Mumbai bungalow from Sunjay’s father, along with the return of her jewellery from the marriage. This financial settlement, combined with her career earnings, has contributed to Karisma’s current net worth, which is estimated at around Rs 120 crore, according to Hindustan Times.
Karisma Kapoor’s Net Worth and Sunjay Kapur’s Legacy
Even after the divorce, Karisma continued to maintain her star power, with multiple brand endorsements, investments, and acting assignments adding to her wealth. Today, her fortune stands at approximately Rs 120 crore, making her one of the most financially secure actresses of her generation.

Sanjay Dutt is a well-known actor in the Indian entertainment industry, and both his personal and professional lives have been quite public. During the COVID-19 lockdown, Dutt was diagnosed with lung cancer, but after a long period, he announced that he was cancer-free. He has shared insights about his challenging experience in interviews, mentioning how Rakesh Roshan helped him find a good doctor.
Sanjay Dutt recalls discovering his lung cancer diagnosis
In an old conversation with Ranveer Allahbadia, Sanjay Dutt recalled how he learnt about his cancer diagnosis and shared, “It was a normal day in the lockdown. When I walked up the stairs, I was totally out of breath. I had a bath, I couldn’t breathe, I didn’t know what was happening, so I called up my doctor. In the X-ray, more than half of my lungs were covered in water. They had to tap the water out. They all were hoping it was TB (tuberculosis), but it turned out to be cancer.”
Dutt shared that it was a big challenge for his family to inform him about the diagnosis, and his sister was the one who broke the news. He mentioned that they started planning on how to address the situation together.
Sanjay Dutt added, “I did cry for over 2-3 hours because I was thinking of my kids, life, my wife, everything. These flashes come. I said I should stop getting weak.”
He underwent treatment in Dubai since he was unable to obtain a visa. Rakesh Roshan, a cancer survivor himself, helped Dutt in finding a doctor. Sanjay revealed how he gathered the courage to fight the disease.
He added, “They told me that I’d lose hair and other things would happen, I’d vomit, so I told the doctor ‘mereko kuch nahi hoga’, I’ll not lose hair, I’ll not vomit, I won’t lie on the bed, and she kind of smiled. I did my chemotherapy, and I came back and I sat on that bike for one hour and I cycled, I did that day after day, every day.”

Kriti Sanon called out the gender bias in Bollywood and recalled how even the ADs tend to call the female actors early and wait for the male actors on set.
Kriti Sanon is among the most successful Bollywood ‘outsiders’ of her generation.
Bollywood has long faced scrutiny for its gender disparities, and actress Kriti Sanon recently shed light on the subtle yet significant biases that women continue to face in the industry. In a candid conversation with NDTV, the Mimi star spoke about how small but telling instances exposed her to the inequalities faced by female actors.
Kriti Sanon calls out the gender bias in Bollywood
Kriti reflected on her upbringing, sharing that her parents, both working professionals, always divided responsibilities equally at home. As a result, she and her sister Nupur never felt restricted because of their gender. She revealed that while her mother was only able to fight for her right to study—sacrificing her hobbies in the process—she always encouraged Kriti to dream freely and pursue whatever she wanted.
Kriti admitted that she has, at times, experienced treatment that left her feeling undermined compared to her male co-stars. “It hasn’t happened too many times, but little things like the male actor getting a better car or a better room… It’s not about the car, but about not making me feel smaller because I’m a woman. Just make it equal,” she said.
According to Kriti, the deeper issue lies in ingrained attitudes that often go unquestioned. She added, “Sometimes even ADs have a habit of calling the female actor first and waiting for the male actor later. I’ve had to tell them not to do that. The mindset needs to change.”

27-year-old Ahaan Panday made a memorable debut with Mohit Suri’s Saiyaara. The film has grossed over ₹500 crore at the box office.
Ahaan Panday made a memorable acting debut with Mohit Suri’s Saiyaara.
Even as he eventually got his dream debut with Saiyaara, the road wasn’t paved smoothly for Ahaan Panday. The 27-year-old actor was supposed to be launched years before this. But somehow, things never lined up for him, as projects kept getting shelved and opportunities were lost. In a new interview, Ahaan says that he felt wronged by people, but never got bitter.
Ahaan Panday on delayed debut
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter India, Ahaan said, “Have I felt wronged by people? Yes, I have. It wouldn’t be right for me to get personal about that, though, but as an actor, that’s where you take [inspiration] from. I would take a small moment and enlarge that for the character. I just kept putting myself into different things. There was that blind optimism, the first four-five years, where I was entirely delusional, and I think people around me could sense it.”
‘Never got bitter’
Saiyaara happened for Ahaan after Yash Raj Films’ boss Aditya Chopra reached out to his parents, Chikki and Deanne Panday, with an offer to launch the youngster. That promise resulted in Mohit Suri’s Saiyaara. “Eventually, I got this opportunity. I would always remind myself: to assist on a set is a dream for millions. To be able to pursue art is a luxury; most people didn’t get to do that, I did. That kept me going. I got to be on a film set, I got to learn from other actors. I didn’t ever think it would be this [big]. I was happy doing this; I was never sour or bitter that things weren’t going my way, because I got to be on a set,” added Ahaan.
Amaal Malik has joined Bigg Boss 19 to reclaim his identity after a decade in the music industry, addressing misconceptions about himself and his family.
Music composer Amaal Malik enters Bigg Boss house, seeking to connect with fans and reveal his true self beyond his music.
Music composer Amaal Mallik, known for chartbusters like Sooraj Dooba Hai, Kar Gayi Chull, and Kaun Tujhe, entered Bigg Boss 19 house, marking a surprising move. In a candid conversation with Hindustan Times, Amaal opened up about his decision, misconceptions about his identity, and what he’s leaving behind to take on the 24/7 reality show.
“I didn’t say yes, I said YES’
Talking about what made him join Bigg Boss, Amaal said, “I didn’t just say yes. I said YES.” After nearly a decade in the music industry, he felt there was a disconnect between his music and his public identity. “People know my music. They know my heart. But they don’t know me — not my habits, my vibe, what I think.”
He revealed that fans often mistake him for his younger brother Armaan Malik or actors like Aditya Roy Kapur, Vicky Kaushal, or Ranveer Singh, depending on his hairstyle or beard. “I want people to know this is Amaal Mallik, not Armaan Malik,” he added.
On misconceptions, losing work, and staying true
Known for his outspoken nature, Amaal acknowledged that his honesty hasn’t always worked in his favour. “I’ve lost out on films, producers have thrown me out of projects. But I don’t regret it. I take a break and go to the Maldives instead.” For him, being truthful and walking away from things that don’t align with his vibe is more important than chasing fame.
Ready for the Bigg Boss challenge?
When asked if he was prepared for the constant cameras, pressure, and dynamics inside the house, Amaal seemed calm. “Relationships, I’m good at. If I wasn’t, I wouldn’t be able to make such emotional music.” While he admits his sleep schedule may be a problem, “When everyone sleeps, I wake up”, he’s ready to face the challenge. “There will be a war. As you play that war, the world will see who’s the king and who’s the queen.”
What he’ll miss most
As he prepares to live under surveillance with strangers, Amaal gets emotional thinking about what he’s leaving behind. “I’ll miss my time with my father. We meet every day, make music together. I’ll miss my mother, and I didn’t even get to say goodbye to Armaan — he’s in London doing shows.” He also mentioned his childhood friends, whom he calls his “Five Pandavas”, saying, “They’re crazy about Bigg Boss. They’re happy I’m going in. I’m sad because I’ll be in there and they’ll be watching me from out here.”

Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone have made it to the headlines for the wrong reason. An FIR has been filed against SRK, Deepika, and six other people from Hyundai in a fraud case involving a vehicle with alleged manufacturing defects. The complaint has been filed by Kirti Singh, a resident of Bharatpur, Rajasthan.
According to Bhaskar English, Singh, in his complaint, has stated that he purchased the Hyundai company’s Alcazar car in June 2022 for Rs 23 lakh 97 thousand 353, and soon, there were technical issues in it. He had bought the car from Malwa Auto Sales Private Limited, Kundli, Sonipat (Haryana).
He said, “After driving the car for 6-7 months, technical faults started appearing. It would make noise and vibrate when driven at high speeds. The car shows malfunction signs on the engine management system.” When Singh contacted the agency about the issue, he was told that this is a manufacturing defect of this car model and cannot be fixed.
Singh first took the matter to the CJM Court No. 2 in Bharatpur as a private complaint. But, the court directed Mathura Gate police station to register an FIR under Section 420 (cheating) and other relevant sections.
Mathura Gate police station has started an investigation.
The 82nd Venice Film Festival, which kicks off August 27, is packed with must-see, Oscar-friendly films set to feature in the upcoming awards season.

In the main competition of the 2025 Venice International Film Festival, 21 international films will compete from August 27 for what is arguably the most prestigious film prizes in European cinema: the Golden Lion.
A-list stalwarts from Julia Roberts to George Clooney and Cate Blanchett will feature on Venice screens, while politically charged features and documentaries will also mark this year’s film gala.
Roberts makes her first-ever stroll down the Lido for Luca Guadagnino’s “After the Hunt,” a #MeToo-inspired thriller. The Hollywood icon plays a Yale philosophy professor who’s put in a difficult position when her Ph.D. candidate and protegee (“The Bear’s” Ayo Edebiri) accuses Alma’s colleague and friend (Andrew Garfield) of sexual assault.
Another Venice newbie is professional wrestler turned action superstar Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, appearing in a serious film (for once). He plays former amateur wrestler and MMA fighter, Mark Kerr, in “The Smashing Machine” from indie darling Benny Safdie. Emily Blunt is Kerr’s wife, Dawn Staples.
Hollywood hits Venice red carpet
Among the red carpet regulars this year is George Clooney, who is the lead in Noah Baumbach’s “Jay Kelly,” the story of a famous actor traveling across Europe with his long-time manager (played by Adam Sandler) as they reflect on their legacies and life choices.
Cate Blanchett and Adam Driver, frequent Venice attendees, return this year with “Father Mother Sister Brother,” the hotly anticipated new film from independent film pioneer Jim Jarmusch.
A trio of contemporary character studies set in the US, Dublin and Paris, it follows the relationships between adult children (including Blanchett and Driver) and their somewhat distant parents, played by Tom Waits and Charlotte Rampling.

Korean film fans will get their fill with “No Other Choice”, the new crime thriller from master director Park Chan-wook (“Old Boy,” “The Handmaiden”). It stars Lee Byung-hun as a man laid off from his longtime position who ruthlessly attempts to get his job back.
Meanwhile, Emma Stone reunites with her “Poor Things” director Yorgos Lanthimos for “Bugonia,” the English-language remake of the anarchic, off-beat 2003 South Korean sci-fi film, “Save the Green Planet.”
And Australian heartthrob Jacob Elordi is also in town, boating in for Guillermo del Toro’s long-awaited Frankenstein adaptation — which also features Oscar Isaac, Mia Goth and Christoph Waltz.
After sitting out last year, Netflix is back on the Lido with a vengeance. Alongside Del Toro’s “Frankenstein” and Baumbach’s “Jay Kelly,” the streamer is rolling out the Venice red carpet for “House of Dynamite,” the first feature from female action director Kathryn Bigelow (“The Hurt Locker”) in eight years.
The thriller is set among a group of White House officials — played by, among others, Idris Elba, Rebecca Ferguson, Greta Lee and Jared Harris — who are scrambling to deal with an incoming nuclear missile attack on the US. Apparently, Bigelow will tell the story in real time.
“the place where they got engaged looks just like the garden where taylor had the lover photoshoot,” another chimed in. Taylor Swift / Instagram
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s enchanted garden proposal might be a nod to the pop star’s 2019 studio album, “Lover.”
The A-list couple announced that they had taken their relationship to the next level via romantic Instagram snaps on Tuesday.
The photos showed the athlete popping the question in the middle of a garden filled with white and pink-toned flowers.
Several fans took to X to compare the picture-perfect scene to Swift’s “Lover” photo shoot, which saw her posing in a similar garden with nearly identical flowers.
“Taylor and Travis getting engaged in the Lover like garden,” one person wrote.
“taylor & travis’ engagement photoshoot looking similar to the lover photos is crazy,” another chimed in, as a third agreed, “the place where they got engaged looks just like the garden where taylor had the lover photoshoot.”
“the lover era prophecy fulfilled,” a fourth gushed.
Reps for Swift weren’t immediately available to Page Six for comment.
The sweet photos of the “Love Story” singer and Kelce, both 35, in the garden showed the latter on one knee with his hands around the Grammy winner’s waist, as she held his face.
Another showed them smiling and embracing shortly after she said, “Yes.”
Swift proudly flaunted the emerald-cut diamond with a gold setting.
“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨,” she captioned the photos, which she paired with her 2024 hit “So High School,” assumed to be about the NFL star.
The A-list couple announced their engagement after the “Cruel Summer” songstress appeared on Kelce’s “New Heights” show on Aug. 13 to reveal her forthcoming 12th studio album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” set for release on Oct. 3.
Deepika Padukone snaps at fan filming her daughter Dua.
Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh are at the centre of a heated online storm after a video showing their daughter Dua’s face was leaked on social media without consent. The clip, filmed at Mumbai International Airport, clearly captured the one-year-old sitting on Deepika’s lap inside a buggy, sparking outrage among fans who called it a “shameful invasion of privacy.”

In the viral video, Deepika is seen sternly asking the person recording to stop. Until now, paparazzi had respected the couple’s request to keep Dua away from cameras. Netizens quickly called out the incident, urging the video to be removed.
Fans React To Deepika-Ranveer’s Daughter Dua’s Leaked Video
Many fans were upset over the clip, with one urging, “Please take this video down. The couple have always made it clear they don’t want Dua’s pictures shared.” Another pointed out, “Posting this isn’t right if the parents have not given permission. It’s a clear invasion of their privacy.” A third user expressed anger, saying, “Deepika has openly asked people not to show her baby’s face, yet someone still went ahead and filmed it. Completely disrespectful.”
This isn’t the first time celebrity parents have raised privacy concerns. Earlier, Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor had requested photographers not to click their daughter Raha after initially revealing her at a Christmas family gathering. The couple later decided to shield her from the media once again, citing safety and privacy reasons.
Deepika and Ranveer, who tied the knot in 2018, welcomed Dua on September 8 last year. They had formally introduced her name during Diwali, writing, “Dua: meaning a prayer. Because she is the answer to our prayers.” Though the couple once invited paparazzi home to meet their daughter, they have held back from releasing her pictures, choosing instead to do it on their own terms.
John Abraham Thanks Supreme Court For Modifying Stray Dogs Verdict, Welcomes SC Order On Delhi-NCR Community Dogs
Actor John Abraham has expressed his gratitude towards the Supreme Court after it modified its earlier verdict on stray dogs in the Delhi-NCR region. The initial ruling directed that all stray dogs be shifted to shelter homes. However, in its latest order on Friday (August 22), the apex court clarified that only aggressive or rabid dogs would be moved to shelters. This decision has drawn positive responses from animal lovers and celebrities alike, with PETA India also sharing a note penned by John.
In his heartfelt message, John thanked the Supreme Court for safeguarding the rights of community dogs. He wrote, “On behalf of dogs, I am thankful to the Supreme Court for ruling, in essence, that there must be peaceful coexistence and that dogs must not be removed from roads. However, the role of feeders in creating friendly dogs who are easy to handle for sterilisations and vaccinations must also be recognised and respected, and municipalities must ensure sufficient feeding stations in every lane for an effective animal birth control program.”
Earlier, when the SC had passed the order to relocate all stray dogs to shelters, John Abraham had personally reached out to Chief Justice of India, BR Gavai, urging him to reconsider. In his letter, he emphasized that these animals are not mere strays but part of the community. He wrote, “I hope you will agree that these are not ‘strays’ but community dogs — respected and loved by many, and very much Delhiites in their own right, having lived in the region as neighbours to humans for generations.”
John, who is an ardent dog lover and a pet parent himself, has consistently spoken up for animal welfare. Alongside him, celebrities such as Rupali Ganguly and Raveena Tandon have also welcomed the court’s revised verdict.
Actor Raza Murad has filed a formal complaint at Mumbai’s Amboli Police Station after a misleading social media post falsely declared him dead. The fabricated message, which mentioned his date of birth along with a fake “date of death,” deeply unsettled the actor and forced him to repeatedly clarify that the news was untrue
Veteran actor Raza Murad has lodged an official complaint at Mumbai’s Amboli Police Station after a false social media post claimed that he had passed away. The fabricated post, which even carried his date of birth and a fake “date of death,” left the actor shaken and compelled him to issue multiple clarifications.
Speaking to ANI, Murad expressed his distress over the matter. “There are some people who, for reasons I don’t understand, seem bothered by my existence. They posted about my death and even offered condolences. They wrote that I had worked for many years, but now no one is there to remember me. They even mentioned my birthday and a fake date of death in that post. This is a very serious matter,” he said
The veteran actor revealed that the incident drained him emotionally as he had to repeatedly assure friends, colleagues, and fans that he is alive. “My throat, tongue, and lips have dried up from telling people that I am alive. This false news has spread everywhere. I am getting calls and messages from across the world. People are even sending me copies of the post,” he added.
ACtor condemns mindset of culprit
Calling the hoax both “hurtful” and “shameful,” Murad condemned the mindset of the person behind it. “Whoever has done this must have a very bad mentality. He appears to be a very small person, someone who has never accomplished anything significant in his life. That is why he enjoys doing such cheap things,” the actor remarked.
Murad confirmed that the police have taken his complaint seriously and assured him of strict action. “They have accepted my complaint and are filing an FIR. They assured me that they will get to the bottom of this and catch the person responsible. Legal action will be taken against him,” he said.
The actor also urged authorities to set a precedent so such malicious rumours don’t continue to plague public figures. “This should stop now. It is not only about me. Celebrities are often declared dead while they are still alive. This is wrong, and whoever does this should be punished,” he added.
Raza Murad’s Bollywood journey
Raza Murad, known for his commanding screen presence and deep baritone voice, has had a remarkable career spanning over five decades in Hindi cinema. Beginning in the early 1970s, he carved a niche for himself by portraying memorable villains, character roles, and authoritative figures in films across genres.
From classics like Prem Rog and Ram Teri Ganga Maili to popular blockbusters such as Khudgarz, Tridev, Mohra, and Padmaavat, his versatility has made him one of Bollywood’s most recognisable faces.

Jolly LLB 3 stars Arshad Warsi and Akshay Kumar.
Actors Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi, along with director Subhash Kapoor, have been issued summons by a civil court in Pune for allegedly disrespecting the judiciary in their upcoming film, Jolly LLB. What is the complaint against the film
According to advocate Wajed Rahim Khan, the action follows a petition filed by him, alleging that the film mocks the legal system and disrespects court proceedings. In the plea, he objected to the portrayal of the legal profession in a negative light and raised concerns over a scene where judges are referred to as “mama,” a slang term.
Speaking to ANI, he said, ” There should be respect for the lawyers. That is why I filed a petition in the court, that whatever they have shown about the advocates and the judges is wrong… I filed a petition in the Pune court. And the court has asked Akshay Kumar, Arshad Walsi and the director to be present.”
The complaint was originally filed in 2024 after the release of the film’s first teaser. The film’s teaser was released last week, giving the first glimpse at the clash of the two Jollys, played by Akshay and Arshad.

Ever since the engagement rumours emerged, fans have been flooding her posts, especially those featuring Saaniya, with excitement and curiosity.

The video highlights the strong bond between Sara and Saaniya. As reports of the latter’s engagement made headlines, interest in Saaniya grew, who works as a veterinary technician in Mumbai.
After old photos of her with Arjun Tendulkar and his family resurfaced online, a new video has emerged showing Saaniya attending a private family gathering. The occasion was the launch of Sara Tendulkar’s Pilates Academy in Andheri, Mumbai—an extension of her already successful Dubai venture.

The 74-year-old superstar is a phenomenon in India
Longevity in show business is a tricky milestone.
For Indian superstar Rajinikanth, 50 years in films isn’t just about survival – it’s about an unbroken reign, turning cinemas into temples and audiences into devotees. Most of his work has been in the thriving Tamil-language film industry, where his films have defined generations.
In 1975, a young Shivaji Rao Gaekwad – soon to be known to the world as Rajinikanth – walked on to a Madras (now Chennai) film set for Apoorva Raagangal, debuting in a brief but memorable role as a swaggering rake.
Nearly five decades and 170 films on, Rajinikanth’s new film, Coolie, released on 14 August. It celebrates his journey with a story that, in parts, mirrors his own life. He plays a working-class hero taking on a wealthy, oppressive villain.
The 74-year-old superstar is a phenomenon – worshipped in temples built for him, his image carried on airplanes during film promotions, and adored in distant Japan with the passion usually reserved for local idols.
Rajinikanth’s story is that of an outsider who became Indian cinema’s most beloved insider – a working-class hero whose appeal cuts across language, class, and geography. His life is an extraordinary rags-to-riches journey – from crippling poverty to unmatched superstardom – earning him the Dadasaheb Phalke Award, India’s highest cinematic honour, and the Padma Vibhushan, the second-highest civilian award.
For millions of fans and some 50,000 fan clubs, this anniversary is another occasion to celebrate their hero.
To them, he is a demigod, his idolisation of mythical proportions. “Gods have to appear in somebody’s form,” says A Rajendran, an ardent fan.
“Rajinikanth has the power that makes us look up at him.”
Naman Ramachandran, author of Rajinikanth: A Definitive Biography, notes that Rajinikanth’s fans range from Wall Street bankers to washerwomen in Tamil Nadu. His on-screen magic lies in portraying the underdog’s dream: to beat the odds without losing one’s humanity, writes Ramachandran.
A 2015 documentary on the superstar called For the Love of a Man by Rinku Kalsy and Joyojeet Pal captured the depth of this fervour – of fans mortgaging homes, selling family gold, and treating film releases as once-in-a-lifetime festivals.
“This isn’t fandom,” Kalsy explained, “it’s identity. He represents what they aspire to be – humble, moral, yet powerful when it matters.”
His home in Chennai has become a shrine for thousands of fans seeking a glimpse, a blessing, or the naming of a newborn. In 2016, AirAsia airline unveiled an aircraft emblazoned with his face to mark his film, Kabali’s release; a symbol that his image could carry a film across the skies.
Devotion often spills into social work by his fan clubs organising blood donation camps, relief drives, community events in his name. As Aishwarya Rajinikanth writes in her book Standing on an Apple Box: “My father never ever behaves like a superstar at home… except in his movies.”
Rajinikanth’s fan culture also blurs cinema and life.
Each film release becomes a ritualised spectacle. As a rookie reporter, I often witnessed the frenzied brotherhood at first day, first-show screenings: coins tossed at the screen, camphor burnt, flowers showered, cut-outs doused in milk, fans screaming his name.
Watching a Rajinikanth movie is less a screening than a carnival that is a heady mix of street cred, working-class pride, communal revelry and delirious joy.
After three hours of superhuman justice, humour, romance, and vengeance, cinemas are littered with popcorn like confetti, and fans spill into the streets, whooping with cathartic delight.
This year, celebrations have reached fever pitch: in Madurai district, a fan has built a temple adorned with over 5,500 posters and photos, offering prayers to an idol of the star.
One of four children, Rajinikanth grew up in poverty; his father was a police constable. “When I dropped out of college, my father sent me to work as a coolie [porter],” he recalled. A relative later helped him become a bus conductor.
A friend, noticing his passion for theatre, pooled funds to send him to the Madras Film Institute, a state-run film school. At the institute, he was talent spotted by the Tamil filmmaker K Balachander who gave him his first role in 1975.
Rajinikanth stood apart from the fair-skinned, soft-spoken hero archetype of Tamil cinema legends like MG Ramachandran. His dark complexion, rustic drawl and streetwise swagger became integral to his cinematic identity.
Sandeepa Virk was arrested on August 12 following searches in Delhi and Mumbai under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002
Influencer Sandeepa Virk | Image: Instagram
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested Instagram influencer Sandeepa Virk, owner of the beauty products website hyboocare.com, in connection with an alleged money laundering case.
Virk was arrested on August 12 following searches in Delhi and Mumbai under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002, and was remanded to ED custody till August 14 by a court for further investigation.
According to the agency, Virk, who has 1.2 million Instagram followers, is accused of misrepresentation, cheating, and acquiring properties through fraudulent means.
“Allegations are that Virk and her associates have exerted undue influence through misrepresentation and defrauded individuals by soliciting money under false pretence,” said ED in a statement on Wednesday.
Sources said ED filed a money laundering case on Punjab Police FIR.
Investigators claim that hyboocare.com, which Virk promoted as a seller of “FDA-approved” beauty products, offered items that were non-existent.
She had duped customers and amassed immovable properties, the investigators alleged.
Keith Gomes and Sayani Gupta open up about making Dear Men, a hard-hitting film exposing child trafficking in India
Sayani Gupta |
Inspired by the thrilling true rescue story of Dipesh Tank – the man who risked everything to rescue minor girls from trafficking – comes a short film that is a war cry wrapped in cinema. On July 30, World Day against Trafficking in Persons, filmmaker Keith Gomes released his boldest work yet: Dear Men, a hard-hitting short film that dares to look trafficking straight in the eye and pays tribute to Dipesh and every rescuer’s courage. Sayani Gupta stars in this powerful story that blends undercover bravery with raw emotional grit, bringing to life a thrilling narrative that has remained buried in the shadows of India’s heartlands for far too long.
As of early 2024, 44% of human trafficking victims in India were minors, with Rajasthan and Bihar recording the highest number of child trafficking cases between 2018 and 2022 (2,711 and 1,848 charge sheets, respectively, as per ETV Bharat). Around 53% of trafficking victims are exploited in sexual slavery, with an estimated 1.2 million individuals trapped in forced prostitution. Excerpts from our interaction with Keith and Sayani:
Sayani Gupta
Q. How did you get associated with Dear Men?
A. I have known Keith for some time now. We were introduced by my friend Hussain Dalal, and the three of us did a film called Shameless that qualified for the Oscars. Keith is the guy with the golden heart, always there for the right things and to tell the right stories. He came to me with Dear Men and it was a no-brainer. I was happy to jump in immediately because of how powerful and important this subject is. It’s more than a film. It’s a medium to start a conversation around one of the most heinous crimes prevalent under our noses. And Dipesh Tank’s stories needed to be highlighted.
Q. What did you learn about human trafficking that you weren’t aware of before?
A. One would hear or read of things. But to be honest, I had no idea how rampant it is, which is so scary. The world is becoming more ruthless, cruel, and frightening for children. The anti-trafficking act is the need of the hour and needs to be passed.
Keith Gomes
Q. What made you make Dear Men? When did the idea first originate?
A. I was researching during COVID about making a documentary on our tribe that celebrates children, especially the girl child, primarily because when she hits puberty, her parents sell her off to the highest bidder. It’s quite heartbreaking. Dipesh has been doing a lot of work over the years protecting women and rescuing children. So I spoke to him. He’s a very old friend. We discussed the idea of traveling through the North, discovering stories, and figuring out the way forward. During those discussions, he told me about his rescue stories and the risks he faces.
So the idea hit me about the story. We continued discussing it for the next year because I had to figure out how to tell the story without going wrong anywhere. I researched a lot and spoke to many organizations, who have been credited at the end of the film. Since there are many layers of child trafficking, rehabilitation, and the fact that these girls cannot go back to their cities, we decided to tell a fictional tale.
Q. What obstacles did you face while making the film?
A. The biggest obstacle is money because when you are making a short film, there’s no return on investment. My friends came forward to give me some money, and I put in a lot of my own. That’s the biggest challenge. All the technicians are international, and some of India’s top talent worked on the film. They did it out of love. We spent a lot on the film, and I make these films not to sell them but mainly to put them out on YouTube free for the world to watch. So yes, there’s no return on investment.

Rodriguez showed off her new sparkler on Instagram, confirming her engagement to the soccer star, 40 — and dazzling fans with the jaw-dropping ring, featuring an oval-cut center stone and two side stones.
While the couple did not confirm who made the mammoth bling, experts tell Page Six Style that the price tag could fall anywhere between $2 and $5 million.
Ajay Anand, CEO of Rare Carat estimates the center stone to be of D color and flawless clarity, potentially weighing over 30 carats — which would place its value at as much as $5 million.

Meanwhile, Laura Taylor, engagement ring specialist at Lorel Diamonds, broke down the choice of stone, explaining, “Oval cuts are known for their brilliant faceting, which maximizes sparkle and gives the stone a bright, lively appearance from every angle.”
She estimated the center stone to weigh in between 15 and 20 carats, costing more than $2 million.
“The center stone is flanked by substantial side diamonds, adding even more sparkle and making the already impressive main stone look even larger,” she continued, adding that it’s likely set in platinum for security.
Taylor added, “This is a show-stopping ring, and easily among the most impressive we’ve seen in recent years, which feels perfectly suited to one of football’s most famous couples.”

Jennifer Aniston admitted in a new Vanity Fair cover story that the cast of “Friends” had been “mourning” Matthew Perry long before his death at 54 years old in October 2023. Perry, who starred as Chandler Bing on NBC’s “Friends” opposite Aniston as Rachel Green, died from the “acute effects” of ketamine. He had long been outspoken about battling substance abuse in Hollywood as “Friends” turned him and the cast into global stars.
“We did everything we could when we could,” Aniston told Vanity Fair about trying to help Perry during his long struggle with addiction both during “Friends’” run and after. “But it almost felt like we’d been mourning Matthew for a long time because his battle with that disease was a really hard one for him to fight. As hard as it was for all of us and for the fans, there’s a part of me that thinks this is better. I’m glad he’s out of that pain.”
After Perry’s death, Aniston paid tribute to her friend and former co-star by sharing a heartfelt text message he once sent her. In it, Perry sent a photo of them laughing together on the “Friends” set and wrote: “Making you laugh just made my day. It made my day.”
“Having to say goodbye to our Matty has been an insane wave of emotions that I’ve never experienced before,” Aniston wrote in a statement on social media at the time. “He was such a part of our DNA. We were always the 6 of us. This was a chosen family that forever changed the course of who we were and what our path was going to be. For Matty, he KNEW he loved to make people laugh. As he said himself, if he didn’t hear the ‘laugh’ he thought he was going to die. His life literally depended on it. And boy did he succeed in doing just that. He made all of us laugh. And laugh hard.”
Aniston later spoke to Variety and revealed she had texted Perry on the day he died. She added of her co-star: “He was happy. He was healthy. He had quit smoking. He was getting in shape. He was happy — that’s all I know… He was not in pain. He wasn’t struggling. He was happy.”
The filmmaker shared his insights on Amitabh and Rekha’s relationship in her biography, Rekha: The Untold Story.
The image was shared on Instagram.
Director Muzaffar Ali has opened up about the rumoured relationship between Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha. This discussion comes in light of the re-release of their film Umrao Jaan, which hit theaters on June 27. The filmmaker shared his insights on their relationship in Rekha’s biography, Rekha: The Untold Story by Yasser Usman.
“Rekha is a very sensitive woman… Amitabh Bachchan used to come and sit on our sets during the Delhi shooting of Umrao Jaan. That’s a fact. Whenever referring to Amitabh, she always spoke using ‘inko, inhone’, like women do who consider themselves married. I think she considered herself married,” Muzaffar told Yasser Usman, writes the latter in his book.
He added, “Unlike many of Rekha’s and Amitabh’s colleagues in the film industry, Muzaffar Ali was not cagey. He was direct and unequivocal: ‘She is and she was in love with him. He should have definitely given her an identity. Amitabh should have married Rekha.’
Amitabh Bachchan got married to actress Jaya Bachchan in 1973. In the ’80s, when rumours of Amitabh and Rekha’s affair started making rounds, director Yash Chopra gave an interview to BBC Asia about his film Silsila that featured all three actors in lead roles.
The filmmaker said, “I was always on tenterhooks and scared because it was real life coming into reel life. Jaya is his wife and Rekha is his girlfriend; the same story is going on. Anything could have happened because they are working together.”

Nick Jonas, often called the “National Jiju” by Indian fans, has once again expressed his fondness for Indian culture, especially its food. The singer recently shared details about his favorite Indian dishes and his preference for enjoying them at home with wife Priyanka Chopra.
In an interview with Speaking with the Heart, the Sucker singer said he enjoys relaxing at home after his busy schedule of rehearsals and shows. “My job sort of requires that all the time. So when I can just sit on my couch and have my Dishoom, I’m happy,” Jonas said, referring to the popular Indian restaurant.
Nick Jonas’ go-to Indian food order
When asked about his typical order, Jonas admitted that he often overorders. “Butter chicken, paneer, saag paneer, masala paneer, raita, we got to have that, naan, we like the chicken biryani. We have a big order, and we always overorder,” he shared.
He also revealed that a key part of the meal comes from Priyanka Chopra’s recommendation. “But the key is the pickles. You’ve got to get the pickles with the order,” Jonas added.
Here’s what Nick Jonas can’t resist
Jonas’ love for paneer is no secret. In an earlier conversation with Today Magazine, when asked about his favorite Indian dish, he quickly replied, “Paneer, it’s the best.”
The host then asked if he liked samosas, another popular Indian snack. While Nick Jonas acknowledged his liking for them, he made his preference clear. “I do…but am more of a paneer guy,” he said.
Faisal Khan accused his family of calling him ‘mad,’ forcing medication, and being locked up by Aamir Khan for a year. His family denied the claims, saying, “We are distressed by Faissal’s hurtful and misleading portrayal… We reaffirm our solidarity as a family,” and requested privacy, emphasising decisions were made with love and medical guidance.
Aamir Khan’s brother, actor Faisal Khan, recently made shocking claims in an interview, stating that his family called him ‘mad,’ diagnosed him with schizophrenia, forced him to take medication, and that Aamir locked him inside the house for an entire year, fearing he could harm society. Days later, Aamir’s family has now issued a statement denying Faisal’s claims and expressed how hurt they are by his ‘misinterpreted’ portrayal of his mother Zeenat Tahir Husain, his sister Nikhat Hegde, and Aamir himself.
Aamir Khan’s Family Breaks Silence On Faisal Khan’s Claims
The statement read, “We are distressed by Faissal’s hurtful and misleading portrayal of his mother Zeenat Tahir Husain, his sister Nikhat Hegde, and his brother Aamir. As this is not the first time he has misrepresented these events, we feel it necessary to clarify our intentions, and reaffirm our solidarity as a family.”
“It is important to share that every choice regarding Faissal has been taken collectively as a family, in consultation with multiple medical professionals, and has been based on love, compassion, and a desire to support his emotional and psychological wellbeing. For this reason, we have refrained from publicly discussing the details of a painful and difficult period for our family,” they shared.
Aamir’s family requested the media to show empathy and avoid turning a private matter into salacious, inflammatory, and hurtful gossip.
What Faisal Khan Said
Faisal told Pinkvilla, “They were saying I’ve got schizophrenia and I’m a mad person. I can harm society. Ye sab baatein ho rahi thi. I was looking at myself, thinking, ‘Ki yaar, main iss chakravyuh se kaise niklu?’ Chakravyuh ho gaya tha mere liye. Main usme fass gaya tha kyunki saari family mere khilaaf jaa rahi thi. Mujhe pagal samjh rahe the.”

These legal fees wouldn’t pay for their Italian wedding’s sparkling water bill!
Newlyweds Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez are demanding nearly $190,000 in legal fees stemming from their ongoing court battle with Lauren’s estranged brother, Michael Sanchez.
Page Six has learned that the billionaire couple and their legal team filed a motion on July 28 in California Superior Court demanding Michael cough up $182,374 in attorney’s fees and $8,182 in legal costs, “incurred in connection with (1) her successful Special Motion to Strike, and (2) this Motion for Attorney’s Fees and Costs.”
The couple have been engaged in a never-ending legal battle with Michael, which Lauren’s lawyers have characterized as a “multi-year campaign of harassment in the hope he could extract a wholly undeserved financial settlement.”
Lauren Sanchez and Jeff Bezos are seeking legal fees from her brother Michael. laurenwsanchez/InstagramThe cases stem from a defamation suit that Michael Sanchez filed after he was accused of leaking images and texts to the National Enquirer.
The motion says Bezos and Sanchez deserve the fees stemming from their Anti-SLAPP (Strategic Lawsuit Against Public Participation) cases in response to Michael filing what their side called “frivolous” claims “which he knew or should have known were dead on arrival.”
The couple is seeking attorney fees and say their lawyers’ hourly rates range from $549 to $1,125.
(According to the San Francisco Bar, if you’re unfamiliar, “California’s Anti-SLAPP statute presents a mechanism to defendants to strike potentially meritless causes of action early in litigation while obtaining a mandatory fee award.)
The bitter family feud began shortly after Bezos announced his split from his wife of 25 years, MacKenzie Scott.
Page Six exclusively reported at the time that Bezos was already seeing Sanchez — who was still legally married, but separated, from Hollywood agent Patrick Whitesell.
Things exploded when the National Enquirer allegedly threatened to publish X-rated photos, leading Bezos to ultimately beat the publication to the punch and publish descriptions of the images himself.
Michael denied leaking any “below-the-belt selfies.” (He did not deny leaking other information.)
But the New York Times reported that: “Mr. Sanchez and American Media executed a nondisclosure agreement,” on Oct. 18, 2018, “concerning certain information, photographs and text messages documenting an affair between Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez,” according to a contract between the two parties seen by the outlet.
In February 2020, Michael sued Bezos for defamation. In November 2020, Los Angeles County Superior Court ruled in favor of Bezos — though ongoing filings have continued in the legal skirmish.

Blackstock died on Thursday at age 48 following a private years-long struggle with melanoma.
The talent manager passed away “peacefully … surrounded by family,” according to a rep for the family.
“We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time,” the statement concluded.

We hear Clarkson stepped away from her NBC show to take care of Blackstock— whom she divorced in 2022 after a lengthy and contentious legal battle — while he battled skin cancer.
“It’s been exhausting and so sad,” a source told Page Six on Thursday. “Kelly has been working so hard, as well as looking after Brandon.
“Despite their difficult divorce, he’s still the man she loved and still her kids’ father,” the insider continued.
During Clarkson’s abrupt departure between February and March, several celebrity guest hosts, including Simu Liu, Roy Woods Jr. and Brooke Shields, took over.
Many questioned Clarkson’s future on the talk show following this leave of absence.
In terms of her other gigs, the “Stronger” hitmaker canceled the remainder of her “Studio Sessions” Las Vegas residency dates through August on Wednesday.
The “American Idol” alum wrote via Instagram she needed “to be fully present” for her family while Blackstock continued to deal with a “serious” illness.
Bianca Censori kept things trendy while out with Kanye West’s kids.
The Yeezy architect looked like a Skims model on a recent outing, wearing a long-sleeved black top with ankle-strap pumps and summer’s hottest trend: capri pants.
Censori, 30, went with a legging-style black pair that clung to her curves and hit just below the knee.

Chicago West, 7, coordinated with her stepmother in a black T-shirt and bubble skirt, while brothers Saint and Psalm wore red shirts. Saint, 9, stood out with his brightly dyed pink hair while Psalm, 6, wore a Chicago Bulls jersey.
While West’s wife has never met a skintight look she didn’t love, she usually opts for sheer tights and daring bodysuits, like the plunging metallic version she posted on Instagram just a few days prior.
Hailey Bieber, Bella Hadid, Zoë Kravitz and Emily Ratajkowski have all co-signed the capri pant’s comeback — as has West’s ex Kim Kardashian.

he leggy look has become super popular as a compromise between pants and shorts, though the controversial length isn’t quite beloved by everyone.
Kardashian, who shares her four children with ex-husband West, even modeled her Skims brand’s swimmable capris while out on a yacht for eldest daughter North’s birthday earlier this summer.
Censori, meanwhile, might be taking her street style in a more modest direction, having recently been spotted at an airport with West wearing a similar all-black ensemble paired with knee-high, furry boots and an oversized Hermès Birkin bag.
Superstar Rajinikanth is all set to return to the silver screen with his film, Coolie, on August 14, and as the advanced bookings opened, fans were seen thronging a theatre in Thrissur, Kerala. Superstar Rajinikanth is all set to return to the silver screen with his film, Coolie, on August 14, and it is no less than a festival for his fans. As the advance bookings for the film opened in Kerala, fans were seen thronging the ticket windows and pushing each other to get their hands on the tickets.
In a video shared by the makers themselves, hundreds of fans can be seen gathered outside a theatre in Thrissur, waiting for the guards to open the gates. As soon as the gates were opened, the sea of fans spilled inside and they ran towards the ticket window.
Fans were even seen pushing each other and tripping, all in a bid to get their hands on the best seats in the theatre.
Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie also stars Aamir Khan, Nagarjuna, Sathyaraj, Shruti Haasan, Soubin Shahir and Upendra, in key roles. The trailer of the film was released a few days ago, and it sent fans of Rajinikanth into a frenzy.
Artificial Intelligence is shaping the present phase in films. If used transparently, these tools can be a boon that helps in streamlining pre-production, improving accessibility, and even pushing artistic boundaries.
The ‘Raanjhanaa’ controversy has exposed the flipside to AI.
If the digital world wasn’t enough, there are digital babies. Al avatars, and deceased celebrities are being resurrected on-screen. In 2025, AI isn’t just part of everyday life and movie-making toolbox—it’s shaping entire stories, performances, and now, controversially, endings.
In the last two years alone, AI has left its fingerprints on some of the most celebrated films. ‘Emilia Prez’, leading the Oscars race with 13 nominations, used AI to enhance Karla Sofa Gascón’s singing voice. ‘The Brutalist’, starring Adrien Brody and Felicity Jones, saw its Hungarian dialogue refined through AI tools. Studios are leaning in as well. Warner Bros. uses AI-driven casting analytics; Lionsgate has tapped Runway AI to speed up storyboarding; and James Cameron is a part of Stability AI’s board.
There is no denying AI. It is the present, and if used transparently, these tools can be a boon that helps in streamlining pre-production, improving accessibility, and even pushing artistic boundaries. But the recent ‘Raanjhanaa’ controversy has exposed the flipside to AI, where it is being used to rewrite a vision, rather than enhancing it.
The Raanjhanaa Flashpoint
Earlier this month, Eros International re-released the Tamil version of ‘Raanjhanaa’ (Ambikapathy) with an AI-generated alternate ending in which Kundan [Dhanush] survives, leading to a sentimental reunion rather than the film’s original tragic climax.
Director Aanand L Rai and lead actor Dhanush, neither consulted nor informed, called it a betrayal. Rai branded the move “a dangerous precedent” and is looking at pursuing legal action to protect the work’s artistic integrity.
What began as a “tech experiment” became a national flashpoint. Critics argue that the power of ‘Raanjhanaa’ rests in its heartbreak; change the ending and you change the soul of the film. Rai compared it to “hijacking” the story’s intent.
Farhan Akhtar backed the director publicly. “If the creator of the film was unhappy about their work being changed, I will always support the creator,” he said during an event. Ritesh Sidhwani echoed the sentiment, stressing AI should only be used “smartly” and “to the film’s advantage,” not to override the filmmaker’s intent.
Eros defended the update, describing the new finale as a “creative reimagining” and asserting their legal right as the film’s copyright holders.
This isn’t the first time Indian filmmakers have expressed unease over AI’s creative creep. Karan Johar has previously said that while one cannot ignore the existence of AI, natural intelligence is irreplaceable. He mentioned, “If you have pure orange juice and you have canned orange juice, there is a difference. And yes, canned orange juice can take you to higher sales, and you can do much more economically. But there is a purity to fresh orange juice.”
The passing of renowned astronaut James Lovell at 97 has left Hollywood and the space community in mourning. His life and achievements were depicted in the film Apollo 13, starring Tom Hanks, who paid tribute to Lovell.
James Lovell Dies At 97: Tom Hanks Pays Emotional Tribute To Astronaut, Who He Portrayed In Apollo 13
Hollywood and the space community are mourning the loss of legendary astronaut James ‘Jim’ Lovell, who died on Thursday, August 7, at the age of 97. Lovell, a former NASA commander and Navy test pilot, became a household name as the man who led the perilous 1970 Apollo 13 mission, a lunar expedition that suffered critical technical failures but returned safely to Earth. His story was immortalised in the 1995 Ron Howard–directed docudrama Apollo 13, where actor Tom Hanks portrayed him on screen.
Tom Hanks pays tribute to James Lovell
Lovell’s daughter-in-law confirmed his passing to The New York Times. Post that, Tom Hanks, paid a heartfelt tribute to Lovell on Instagram, reflecting on the astronaut’s courage and legacy. “There are people who dare, who dream, and who lead others to the places we would not go on our own,” wrote the Oscar winner. “Jim Lovell, who for a long while had gone farther into space and for longer than any other person of our planet, was that kind of guy.”
He continued, “His many voyages around Earth and on to so-very-close to the moon were not made for riches or celebrity, but because such challenges as those are what fuels the course of being alive – and who better than Jim Lovell to make those voyages.” The actor concluded with a poignant farewell: “On this night of a full moon, he passes on – to the heavens, to the cosmos, to the stars. God speed you, on this next voyage, Jim Lovell.”
Apollo 13 director honours Jim Lovell
Ron Howard, who directed Apollo 13, also remembered the astronaut with a touching post on Instagram. Sharing a carousel of archival images, film stills, and side-by-side comparisons of Lovell and Hanks, the filmmaker wrote, “RIP #CommanderLovell. Navy test pilot, Gemini 7, Gemini 12, Apollo 8 and, of course, Apollo 13.”

Plus, other big stars at Sirius have caught Howard’s ire
HOWARD Stern can’t stand Call Her Daddy host Alex Cooper, as the beloved podcaster is now SiriusXM’s biggest star, sources have told The U.S. Sun.
According to one insider, Stern’s hostility toward the 30-year-old podcasting sensation runs so deep, SiriusXM execs make sure the two don’t cross paths when she’s in New York.
“She’s the one that bugs him,” the insider explained.
“She gets hundreds of millions of hits, she has this mega $125 million deal, and he hates that this young bubbly woman is the big new thing.
“That’s who they have to keep Howard away from when she comes to New York.”
L.A.-based Alex left her previous home on Spotify and signed the massive deal with SiriusXM last year.
The source claimed talented podcasters like Cooper are leaving old-school radio personalities like Stern, 71, in the dust.
“It’s completely turned Howard’s world upside down. He’s been in radio 40 years, and this change has really shocked everyone.
“Alex and Joe Rogan, these massive podcasters, have traditional radio guys stunned.”
The insider added of Cooper, “she’s female, she’s the next generation.
“That’s the future. iHeartRadio is desperately trying to find someone like that.”
Meanwhile, a second source also touched on rumors that Stern is taking issue with his fellow SiriusXM superstar, Bravo’s Andy Cohen.
“Andy’s interviews are regularly promoted by Sirius, while you just don’t hear much about Howard’s interviews these days.”
The first insider also added that Howard, who for the most part has been taping from home since Covid, has his own wing at SiriusXM in New York City.
“Once you’re inside Sirius, you need a special access card to get to where Howard tapes. It’s his very own wing, and he barely uses it.”
SHOW OVER?
Sources claimed to The U.S. Sun on Tuesday that Stern’s SiriusXM show is set to be canceled, as it is unlikely they’ll meet his financial demands when his current five-year contract ends this fall.
An insider disclosed: “Stern’s contract is up in the fall, and while Sirius is planning to make him an offer, they don’t intend for him to take it.
“Sirius and Stern are never going to agree on the money he is going to want. It’s no longer worth the investment.”
The source also mentioned that SiriusXM is expected to negotiate a deal to retain Stern’s extensive show library, stating: “But as far as him coming back to doing the show, there’s no way they can keep paying his salary.”
Referencing broader financial challenges in the media industry, the insider added, “After you saw what happened with Stephen Colbert, it’s like they just can’t afford to keep him going.”
Neither SiriusXM nor Stern responded to The U.S. Sun’s request for comment.

THE ICONIC Howard Stern Show on SiriusXM is set to be canceled after a stunning 20-year run, sources exclusively told The U.S. Sun.

“Stern’s contract is up in the fall and while Sirius is planning to make him an offer, they don’t intend for him to take it,” one insider said of the impending end to the shock jock’s latest five-year contract.
“Sirius and Stern are never going to meet on the money he is going to want. It’s no longer worth the investment.”
The insider added that fans may expect Sirius to strike a deal for his library.
“But as far as him coming back to doing the show, there’s no way they can keep paying his salary,” the source said.
“After you saw what happened with Stephen Colbert, it’s like they just can’t afford to keep him going.”
Another source said Stern’s political leanings are also not working in his favor.
“If Sirius isn’t going to give Stern a good offer, I don’t think it would have anything to do with his ratings,” the source claimed. “It’s more likely everything to do with the political climate.”
Stern has been an outspoken critic of President Donald Trump.
Stern famously interviewed presidential hopeful, Vice President Kamala Harris, in the run-up to the 2024 election.
Harris’ decision to appear on Stern’s show was slammed by many Republicans who accused her of after avoiding a number of mainstream media appearances.
SiriusXM and Stern did not respond to The U.S. Sun’s request for comment.

Stern moved over to SiriusXM in 2006 and has been there ever since.
While he first cut his teeth as a shock jock, discussing all sorts of taboo topics, later in his career, Stern became known for his in-depth celebrity interviews.
From Lady Gaga opening up about her past drug addiction, to Courtney Cox popping in at the last minute and opening up about her failing marriage to David Arquette, Stern has a knack for getting guarded celebs to say much more than anyone expected.
OTHER BUSINESS VENTURES
Outside of his long-standing, lucrative radio career, Stern created a blockbuster movie, Private Parts, which was a wild autobiography of his rise to fame.
In the 1997 flick, Stern famously aired his gripes with previous employers, including, and especially, with WNBC.
Stern has also published several books, including the book form of his autobiography, Private Parts.
He was also a judge on America’s Got Talent from 2012 to 2015.

Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri is currently promoting his highly anticipated film, The Bengal Files, in the USA through multiple world premieres across various cities. Without teasing or creating controversy, the filmmaker began the promotions silently and respectfully. However, despite no provocation, multiple FIRs were filed against him, producer Abhishek Agarwal, and actress-producer Pallavi Joshi by members of Mamata Banerjee’s TMC party, accusing the film of portraying controversial content.
In response, the makers approached the Indian judiciary, and the High Court granted interim relief by putting a stay on all FIRs. Yet, despite the court’s ruling, fresh FIRs continue to be filed. Now, Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri has taken to social media to share a powerful video message slamming the ruling party for trying to suppress the film and stop the truth from coming out. He called The Bengal Files the most important film of the country, one that uncovers one of the darkest and most hidden chapters in Indian history.
Sharing the video, Vivek wrote, “Important & Urgent: Multiple FIRs have been filed against me by the West Bengal govt for making #TheBengalFiles. The Hon’ble High Court has stayed them. Why do they want to silence us? Why are they so scared of the truth? I will not be silenced. Pl Watch & Share. #RightToLife #NeverAgain”
Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri questioned why the ruling party is trying to suppress voices and block the truth of the past and present. “Are they against the film, the maker, or the truth?” he asked, urging every citizen, especially the youth, to watch The Bengal Files and uncover the hidden realities. He emphasized the years of hard work and research behind the film and reiterated his faith in the judiciary. He also challenged the party and announced that the film’s trailer will now be launched in Kolkata itself—the very city where these FIRs are being filed.
Rupali Ganguly voiced her concerns over Bollywood bias and requested the government to consider television artistes for National Awards too.
Rupali Ganguly demands National Awards for television industry.
The 71st National Film Awards recently created a buzz on social media, as actors like Shah Rukh Khan (Best Actor for Jawan), Rani Mukerji (Best Actress for Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway) and Vikrant Massey (Best Actor for 12th Fail), among others were honoured for their performances. While the film industry celebrated its moment of glory, television star Rupali Ganguly, best known for playing the lead role in Anupamaa, voiced a powerful concern: why is Indian television still overlooked at the National Awards?
Rupali Gnguly demands National Awards for television industry
In a conversation with paparazzi account Viral Bhayani, Ganguly said, “There are National Awards for everyone from film stars to content creators. But there’s nothing for TV artistes. Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, others had the advantage of delaying their shooting schedules, but we kept working. When a film star works continuously, it makes headlines. But no one talked about how we, the TV artists, worked non-stop from 6 am to 6 pm during the pandemic. I request the government to consider us also. We work very hard; it’ll be nice to have some validation.”
Rupali Ganguly on Smriti Irani’s comeback
Rupali further hoped that Smriti Irani’s comeback might take the TV industry towards that direction and added, “Smriti Irani returned to TV with the new version of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, and it’s airing on the same channel as my show. I am very proud that Smriti ji returned to TV, it’s such a big validation. Her comeback will make a lot of difference, and it will bring all the eyes back to television.
Smriti Irani, who originally rose to fame with Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, has returned to the screen with a reboot of the iconic Ektaa Kapoor show. The comeback has left fans nostalgic, and the new version is already receiving considerable love from viewers. The show also stars Hiten Tejwani, Amar Upadhyay, Gauri Pradhan, and Kamalika Guha Thakurta, among others.

Some also argued that despite it being a decent attempt at recreating Kishore Kumar’s voice, the AI version could not match the original voice of the legendary singer. “Only true Kishor fans will not go ‘wow’ on this video effort. Tamannaah Bhatia discusses the scrutiny female actors face over cosmetic surgeries, noting that Gen-Z is more open about these procedures.

Bollywood actors have often been trolled on social media for undergoing cosmetic surgeries. In a recent interview with Lallantop, Tamannaah Bhatia addressed the scrutiny faced by female actors over cosmetic treatments, particularly in the context of Shefali Jariwala’s death.
Tamannaah Bhatia on female actors facing scrutiny for cosmetic treatements
Tamannaah talked about how anything that happens with the film people, turns into a discussion and said, “People need to understand that it is very easy to talk about people who are in the media glare. Because you know about their lives. There are so many people whose lives you don’t know anything about, and you will never know also. In baton ke baare me hum bas charcha kar sakte hai. Isse hum kahi pahuchte nahi hai. (We can only discuss these things. This will not get us anywhere). I don’t know how conclusive they are.”
Tamannaah went on to say that cosmetic procedures such as botox are no longer taboo, especially among the younger generation.
“Gen-Z kids are quite open about it. Jo bhi process karate hai, (whatever procedure they undergo), they are open about it. Koi bhi judgement ke through guzarna nahi chahta. Wo kuch kahenge toh unpe ungliya uthengi. (No one wants to go through judgment. If they say anything, fingers will be pointed at them.) There is a lot of judgment on people who are in films. Wo shayad comfortable nahi hai apne life me baare me share karne ke liye. (Maybe they are probably not comfortable sharing their life),” she said.
Shefali Jariwala was found dead at her Mumbai residence on the night of June 27. While initial reports suggested a cardiac arrest, multiple sources later reported that she had taken glutathione injections — commonly used in anti-ageing treatments — prior to her death, which may have contributed to it.

He told Flip Your Wig: “I think we were really restricted with what we could do in the last movie because of COVID. We shot the entire film on stages. Now we’re really going to lean into that old school filmmaking and shoot in real locations.
“We are going to use the streets of Glasgow for this massive set piece that we are putting together.”
Holland added that playing Peter Parker and his web-slinging alter-ego is like “like hanging out with an old pal” and filming the fourth movie is “going to feel like making [2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming] again”.
He added: “It’s been such a long time that I’ve done it that it’s going to feel like a breath of fresh air. I think the fans are going to be over the moon with what we’re putting together.”
Zendaya will also be returning as MJ in Spider-Man 4, along with Jacob Batalon as Peter Parker’s best friend Ned.
Sadie Sink has joined the cast, but her character has not been revealed.

In an interview with Hindustan Times, Randeep Hooda gets candid about his biggest fashion mistake, and the time when no one entertained him at an Armani store.
Randeep Hooda was recently seen with Sunny Deol in Jaat.
Actor Randeep Hooda’s cinematic journey began over 20 years ago with Mira Nair’s Monsoon Wedding, which took him to the Venice Film Festival. Among his cherished memories from that experience is an incident where he was ignored at an Armani store as he had no money.
Randeep looks back
Randeep recently visited Delhi for an event and sat down with Hindustan Times to reminisce about his career. During the conversation, he looked back at his journey and shared an anecdote about a major fashion faux pas he committed at the premiere of his debut film at an international film festival.
Hailing from Rohtak in Haryana, Randeep spent almost six years in Australia as a student and worked as a taxi driver at night. His Australian accent eventually landed him his first big break in 2001 with Mira Nair’s film Monsoon Wedding. The film was screened at the Venice Film Festival in 2001 and won the Golden Lion award at the festival.
Randeep walked down memory lane when asked about his biggest fashion blunder. The actor tells us, “Well, I remember when I had gone to Venice for the screening of the film Monsoon Wedding at the Venice Film Festival. I didn’t have any money, and a friend of mine gave me some money to go and suit for the screening.”
“So, I went to buy a suit at an Armani store in Venice. The people at the Armani shop in Venice didn’t entertain me at all. When I looked at the labels, I figured out why. So I had nothing to wear,” added the actor, who walked the ramp for the Blenders Pride Four Elements fashion event in Gurugram recently.
Randeep continues, “So I had these fluorescent corduroy jeans, green ones, and a black shirt.. The designer from the movie gave me a red shawl. So the premiere of my first movie, watching it on such a big screen with crowds of people, signing my first autographs, taking photographs at that screening… And I was wearing fluorescent corduroy jeans with a black shirt and red shawl. I can’t imagine what that would have looked like now.”
On his fashion mantra
Randeep, who was last seen in the film Jaat with Sunny Deol, prefers a laid-back approach to fashion, opting for comfort over experimentation. He says he likes to stick with what makes him feel at ease.
“I’m not too much of a fashion victim. I just pick up and wear whatever I lay my hands on, what’s on the top layer of the wardrobe. It has to keep changing, otherwise I will just keep lifting the top,” says Randeep.
When it comes to his fashion mantra, Randeep shares, “It is T-shirt and jeans or shorts.”
Aamir Khan today announced the global release of his superhit theatrical film Sitaare Zameen Par, exclusively on YouTube starting on 1 August, 2025. This strategic move marks a bold new distribution approach that delivers one of 2025’s most successful theatrical releases directly into people’s homes. This heartwarming family drama, starring Actor-Producer Aamir Khan, Genelia Deshmukh and featuring a powerful ensemble, including 10 actors with intellectual disabilities, will be available in India at Rs. 100, and in 38 international markets, including USA, Canada, UK, Australia, Germany, Indonesia, Philippines, Singapore, Spain, among others, with pricing localized for each market.
Aamir Khan’s Sitaare Zameen Par, a spiritual successor to the 2007 classic Taare Zameen Par, celebrates love, laughter, and inclusivity. The film has struck a deep chord with audiences — crossing ₹250 crore worldwide. Audiences can now rent the movie by paying a fee, turning every home and device into a janta ka theatre.
This makes premium cinema accessible to a wider audience, whether in their home or on the move – all they need is an internet connection. For fans who missed it in cinemas or wish to re-watch it, this offers a high-quality, convenient option. To reach even broader and newer audiences in India and globally, Sitaare Zameen Par will offer subtitles and dubs in key languages.
The digital release of Sitaare Zameen Par leverages YouTube’s reach and flexible distribution capabilities. This will also be the primary destination where other beloved films from Aamir Khan Productions, will be available in the days to come.
This pivotal collaboration demonstrates YouTube’s growing role in democratising reach and evolving distribution strategies, establishing YouTube as a premier destination for post-theatrical film and media content. YouTube’s reach in India and globally is unparalleled. According to Comscore, YouTube reached 4 out of 5 Internet users in India aged 18+[1], while entertainment videos on YouTube generated over 7.5 billion views on a daily basis globally, in 2024[2].
Commenting on the launch, Actor-Producer Aamir Khan stated, “For the past 15 years I have been struggling with the challenge of how to reach audiences who do not have geographical access to theatres, or those who are unable to make it to theatres for various reasons. Finally the time for the perfect storm has come. With our government bringing in UPI and India becoming no 1 in the world in electronic payments, with internet penetration in India having grown dramatically and growing everyday, and with YouTube being on most devices, we can finally reach vast sections of people in India, and a significant part of the world. My dream is that Cinema should reach everyone at a reasonable and affordable price. I want people to have the ease of watching Cinema when they want, where they want. If this idea works, Creative voices can tell different stories breaking geographical and other barriers. This will also be a great opportunity for younger creative people entering the field of Cinema. If this idea works, then I see this as a win-win for all.”
Gunjan Soni, Country Managing Director, YouTube India, highlighted the strategic significance of this partnership. “The digital launch of Sitaare Zameen Par exclusively on YouTube underscores a significant step towards democratizing Indian film distribution at a global scale. YouTube is already a key digital destination for premium content, and we’re excited to offer filmmakers and content owners not only our unparalleled digital reach but also the control and flexibility to meet their audiences where they are. Today’s launch is far more than a release – YouTube is laying out the red carpet for Indian cinema to stride onto the global stage.”
YouTube offers a robust selection of movies available to buy or rent across diverse languages, genres, including popular Indian and international hits. This offering continues to grow alongside a significant opportunity in India, driven by surging internet penetration, rapid growth in Connected TVs, and increasing mobile consumption. In fact, Connected TV (CTV) is YouTube’s fastest growing screen for the last 5 years in India. These trends reinforce YouTube’s unique position to make premium content accessible on every screen and in every format.

Tanushree Dutta gained fame with Aashiq Banaya Aapne in 2005.
Actor Tanushree Dutta, the OG MeToo whistleblower, has opened up about the emotional video she recently shared on her social media. In the now-viral clip that she shared on Tuesday, the actor can be seen sobbing and talking about being allegedly “harassed” inside her home.
“I am being harassed in my own house. I just called the cops, and they have asked me to come to the police station to lodge a proper complaint. I will probably go tomorrow or the day after. I am not well. I have been harassed so much in the past five years that I have fallen sick,” she said in the video.
Tanushree has alleged that the video was a result “pain, stress, and fear she faced over the last five years”.
Speaking to ANI, Tanushree said her video was not a stunt or drama, but a real “emotional response after enduring repeated traumatic events since MeToo allegations in 2018”. “First of all, I want to say that it was my emotional response,” she said.
“A lot of strange things have happened to me in the last five years. After MeToo, serious and dangerous things started happening around me. It took me time to understand that all of this was actually happening to me,” she said.
“I was in an accident; my brakes failed. There were also attempts to mix something in my food to make me sick. Strange things started happening outside my house, too,” Tanushree added.
When asked if anyone from the film industry reached out to help, she said, “I don’t have any friends. And when all of this started happening to me, the few contacts I had also disappeared.”
About people calling her a drama queen after her video, Tanushree said, “People always say such things. They said I was acting in 2008, they said the same in 2018. And who are these people anyway?”
She also responded to the accusations that her viral video was a publicity stunt saying, “There are many ways to go viral. I don’t need to do all this. I am Tanushree Dutta. Miss India Universe,” she said.
Mahavatar Narsimha may not match Pixar in polish, but in ambition, heart, and cultural rootedness, it’s a homegrown triumph. It proves that animated storytelling in India need not be infantile or ironic. It can be intense, introspective, and wildly imaginative—like the stories our grandmothers told us, only now in 3D and widescreen
Director: Ashwin Kumar
Cast: Various voice artists…
Where to watch: In theatres
Rating: ***1/2
You don’t walk into Mahavatar Narsimha expecting subtlety. You walk in anticipating celestial rage, a dose of dharma, and an animation style that’s still learning to flex its muscles. What you get, however, is something far more arresting—Ashwin Kumar’s mythological epic doesn’t just retell the tale of Lord Narasimha; it resurrects it with a reverence that borders on contagious.
The film retells the legend of Lord Narasimha, the fierce half-man, half-lion avatar of Lord Vishnu, who descends to vanquish the tyrannical Asur —an ego-driven demonic king—Hiranyakashipu and protect the unwavering devotion of his son, Prahlad.
Let’s get the obvious out of the way: yes, the audio might make your eardrums rethink their life choices in the opening half hour. The decibel levels are enthusiastically devotional—more temple loudspeaker than Dolby finesse. But once your senses recalibrate to the film’s bhakti-driven bravado, the bombast becomes oddly cathartic, like a rath yatra in surround sound.
Technically, the film doesn’t quite roar at the outset. Animation purists might twitch at the occasional lip-sync slip and movements that feel a tad jerky—think cardboard cutouts trying to emote with Shakespearian earnestness. But what the animation lacks in fluidity, it compensates for with colour, grandeur, and painstaking detail. Every frame is mounted with an eye for aesthetic embellishment. The climax, alone—with Narasimha’s incarnation unravelling in operatic slow-burn—is worth a reverent salaam to the design team.
What truly elevates the film is its refusal to cater to the popcorn-mythology crowd. There are no TikTok-style one-liners or swaggering gods using street slang. The film commits to emotional sincerity: Prahlad’s quiet devotion feels true, and Hiranyakashipu’s descent into delusion carries real weight. Even Narasimha’s ferocity is moral reckoning—a cosmic intervention, not a spectacle.
Ashwin Kumar’s direction resists the urge to sermonise. He lets silences speak, particularly in scenes where characters are caught between faith and fear. That rare use of stillness—a whispered chant here, a flicker of doubt there—feels radical in an industry allergic to pause buttons. The screenplay (co-written with Jayapurna Das and Rudra P. Ghosh) gives its characters dignity, even the villain. Hiranyakashipu isn’t just another growling bad guy; he’s a man consumed by the very power he seeks to wield, making his confrontation with Narasimha as much a psychological collapse as a spiritual cleansing.
The background score is rousing without being overbearing, and the voice cast (despite the odd sync stumble) brings a layered gravitas to the proceedings. But it’s in the final act—where faith, fury and form collide—that the film achieves something close to transcendence. It doesn’t just show you a god descending; it makes you feel why the descent matters.

Film producer and TV czarina Ektaa Kapoor issued an official statement, a day after Indian government banned several apps and websites for promoting ‘soft p*rn’, and obscene content. One of the banned apps is ALTT and soon after the news surfaced, it was assumed that it is run by Ektaa.
However, in a statement, she clarified that she is not associated with ALTT.
“Media reports have been in circulation about ALTT being disabled by the authorities, however, contrary to such reports, Ms. Ekta Kapoor and Mrs. Shobha Kapoor are not associated in any capacity whatsoever with ALTT and they had stepped down from their association with ALTT way back in June 2021.”
She added, “Any insinuation contrary to the above facts is strongly denied and media is requested to report the accurate facts.”
Ektaa’s statement further read, “Balaji Telefilms Limited, listed on the BSE and NSE, is a professionally run media organization and following the recent amalgamation of ALT Digital Media Entertainment Ltd. (previously its wholly owned subsidiary) duly approved by the Hon’ble NCLT, it operates ALTT wef June 20, 2025.”
She also stated that Balaji Telefilms Limited is “fully compliant of all applicable laws and continues to operate its business with the highest standards of corporate governance.”
On July 25, it was announced that the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) blocked as many as 24 apps and websites for obscene, adult and vulgar content.
To curb the spread of unlawful content online, the MIB issued a notification directing all Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in the country to disable public access to 24 websites. These platforms have been flagged for hosting content that violates multiple Indian laws and standards of digital ethics.
As per the notification, the websites in question – such as ALTT, ULLU, Big Shots App, Desiflix, Boomex, Navarasa Lite, Gulab App, and more – were reportedly found to be in violation of provisions under the Information Technology Act, 2000 (particularly Sections 67 and 67A), Section 294 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and Section 4 of The Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986.
Pawan Kalyan’s Hari Hara Veera Mallu earned Rs 31.50 crore on its opening day in India across all languages. This is in addition to the Rs 12.7 crore the film had already collected from paid premieres held a day earlier. With this, it recorded a strong total of Rs 44.20 crore, marking one of the highest openings for the actor. The film registered 57.39 per cent overall occupancy in Telugu theatres
Actor-politician Pawan Kalyan’s much-awaited period drama Hari Hara Veera Mallu – Part 1: Sword vs Spirit finally made its theatrical debut on Thursday (July 24) and opened to an impressive start at the box office. Despite facing years of delays, the film managed to draw massive footfalls across cinema halls, particularly in the Telugu-speaking regions.
According to early estimates reported by Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 31.50 crore on its opening day in India across all languages. This is in addition to the Rs 12.7 crore the film had already collected from paid premieres held a day earlier.
With this, Hari Hara Veera Mallu has recorded a strong total gross of Rs 44.20 crore, marking one of the highest openings for Pawan Kalyan.
The film also registered a noteworthy 57.39 per cent overall occupancy in Telugu theatres on the first day of its release. Morning shows saw the highest attendance at 63.52 per cent, which dipped slightly during the afternoon with 45.89 per cent occupancy. However, the numbers picked up again in the evening with 58.12 per cent, and continued strong into the night shows, which recorded 62.01 per cent occupancy.
Despite mixed reviews from critics and fans alike, the star power of Pawan Kalyan has clearly drawn audiences to theatres in large numbers. The opening performance has surpassed the actor’s previous records, putting Hari Hara Veera Mallu ahead of his earlier blockbusters such as Vakeel Saab (Rs 40.10 crore), Bheemla Nayak (Rs 37.15 crore) and Bro (Rs 30.5 crore) in terms of Day 1 collection.
The coming weekend will be crucial in determining the film’s long-term performance, but the solid opening has laid a promising foundation for the historical action epic.
While Hollywood grapples with the ethical and creative implications of Artificial Intelligence, Indian cinema is quietly forging ahead, potentially redefining the future of filmmaking. AI forges A New Frontier In Filmmaking, Beyond Hollywood’s Playbook |
While Hollywood grapples with the ethical and creative implications of Artificial Intelligence, Indian cinema is quietly forging ahead, potentially redefining the future of filmmaking. Far beyond mere scriptwriting or de-ageing actors, Indian directors and studios are embracing full-throttle, prompt-driven AI production, positioning themselves as global pioneers in this rapidly evolving frontier.
India Eyes First-Ever AI Feature Film
The race for India’s first AI-generated feature film is on, with upcoming Hindi films like Naisha and Maharaja in Denims, alongside the Kannada-language Love You, vying for the prestigious title.
In this context, “AI-generated” signifies a profound shift, extending beyond niche tasks to encompass the entire filmmaking process, from conceptualisation to visualisation.
AI Tools Power Entire Film Pipelines
Unlike their Western counterparts who often relegate AI to specific functions, Indian filmmakers are leveraging cutting-edge tools like Midjourney, Luma AI, Runway, and ElevenLabs to plan entire scenes, sketch out narratives, and even visualise complete films from text prompts.
This aggressive innovation is pushing creative boundaries and raising fascinating questions about the future of traditional production methodologies.
Bollywood and Tollywood Go All-In On AI Studios
The burgeoning landscape has led to the emergence of dedicated AI filmmaking studios across the country. Tollywood’s renowned producer Dil Raju has launched Larven AI Studio, while Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn has entered the fray with Prismix.
Chandigarh-based Intelliflicks Studios is behind Maharaja in Denims, and Mumbai-based Amazing Indian Stories is developing Naisha. These new players are driving significant investment in this radical technology, signalling a powerful shift in the industry’s approach.
Ajay Devgn Calls AI ‘A Creative Partner’
Ajay Devgn, who will lead Prismix as chairman, emphasised the transformative potential: “With Prismix, we are stepping into the future of storytelling. AI is not just a tool but a creative partner that can help filmmakers and brands bring their vision to life in ways never imagined before. Our goal is to revolutionise media by making high-quality, AI-driven content more accessible and scalable.”
He will be joined by his nephew Danish Devgn as co-founder and chief business officer, Vatsal Sheth as co-founder and chief executive officer, and Sahil Nayar as co-founder and chief creative officer.
Dil Raju’s Studio Backs AI-Led Pre-Productio
Veteran producer Dil Raju, explaining the genesis of Lorven AI Studio, highlighted its practical applications: “We’ve been discussing AI for the last two years. Our company, in collaboration with Quantum, decided to develop something impactful for cinema. We envisioned how a 360-degree movie could be made—from script idea to final screenplay—that’s the first stage. This tool will be extremely helpful for newcomers.”
Raju further elaborated on the studio’s focus on pre-production: “It feels like a miracle… You can think of ‘Lorven AI’ as a first assistant director—without emotions. It greatly aids directors on the creative side.”
The studio is already utilising the system for the pre-production of Rowdy Janardhan starring Vijay Deverakonda, and two other projects, Tella Kagitam and a VFX-heavy movie.
Nag Ashwin Supports AI Integration In Filmmaking
Acclaimed director Nag Ashwin of Kalki 2898 AD fame, a project that already experimented with AI, in its workflows expressed his enthusiasm for Lorven AI: “When Raju spoke about this project, his honesty and passion were evident. Updating oneself is not easy—congratulations to him. I’m eagerly waiting to use this software. I believe it enhances creativity.”
Srijit Mukherji Resurrects Uttam Kumar On Screen
Early adopters are already demonstrating AI’s disruptive potential. Filmmaker Srijit Mukherji, in a daring move, “resurrected” Bengali legend Uttam Kumar for his film Oti Uttam. Mukherji shared the genesis of this audacious idea: “In every death or birth anniversary [of Uttam Kumar], I have been asked how I would have cast him if he was alive today. One year, I thought, ‘Why not give it a shot? Why not try and make a film which stars Uttam Kumar? And since I have not had the good fortune of being born in his era, let’s see whether technology can make this possible.”
Acknowledging the monumental risk involved in featuring a cultural icon of such sentimental value, Mukherji revealed, “It was a huge risk… It paid off when it [kind of] became a huge success at the box office.”
AI Democratises Filmmaking, Says Naisha Creator
Vivek Anchalia, the visionary behind Naisha, who hopes to be the first Indian filmmaker to deliver a fully AI-driven film, firmly believes AI will augment, not replace, human creativity.
“People are people who can use, it’s like, It’s like you, you are going to a war. If you have the latest gun, you are at an advantage. It’s as simple as that,” Anchalia stated, drawing an analogy to the constant evolution of filmmaking tools.
“Technology is a huge part of what we do. We are shooting on cameras, which are machines, right? We are already – half of our equipment that makes a film possible, whether it’s an editing machine, whether it is say voicing where mics are used, the sound studios.”
Anchalia does not foresee technology dictating content, asserting that “original voices are still going to exist. Your great stories will be interesting. I think it’ll eventually come down to voices only.” He further championed AI’s potential to democratise creativity, a sentiment echoed by many aspiring filmmakers.
“What AI will do is, till last year, any filmmaker, any writer still needed permission to make a film, right? You need permissions from an actor, you need permissions from a producer, you need permissions from a studio. Right now, what [platforms like YouTube] did for creators, I think AI will do for filmmakers. So, so I think, I think we will be able to make films today. It’s still maybe a little expensive. It’s going to get cheaper and cheaper.”
He envisions a future with a proliferation of storytellers, free from the constraints of traditional systems, allowing audiences to choose from a wider array of narratives.
The implications for the broader industry are immense. Experts predict a potential paradigm shift in production timelines and budgets, making filmmaking more accessible to independent creators. This democratising effect could lead to a surge in diverse narratives and regional content, further enriching India’s already vibrant cinematic landscape.
The focus on prompt-driven entire film visualisation also points to a future where directors can iterate on ideas with unprecedented speed and precision, moving from concept to a near-final product with efficiency that was previously unimaginable.
This innovative approach, deeply embedded in India’s tech-forward mindset, contrasts sharply with the cautious, often reactive, stance seen in some Western film industries.
AI to Disrupt Stardom, Predicts Shekhar Kapur
Noted filmmaker Shekhar Kapur underscored AI’s ability to offer creative freedom, particularly for those without access to top talent or hefty budgets. “Actors are going to be just actors, because AI will create stars going ahead. AI will create more human-like stars. And I can create a star using AI and have my copyright,” he confidently stated.
This vision suggests a future where the traditional power structures of stardom could be decentralised, giving more creative control to filmmakers. The emergence of AI as a ‘creative partner’ is not merely a technological upgrade but a fundamental re-imagining of the cinematic process, with India leading the charge.
Tanushree Dutta shared a video alleging years of harassment at home, claiming a conspiracy by the “Bollywood mafia gang.”
Tanushree Dutta has spoken up about the allegations she recently made.
Tanushree Dutta stunned social media on Tuesday after she shared a disturbing video, alleging that she has been facing harassment inside her own home for years. In an exclusive interview with News18 India, the actress opened up about it for the first time.
Just like Sushant Singh Rajput, there are attempts being made to kill me,” Tanushree said, warning of a larger conspiracy involving what she describes as the “Bollywood mafia gang.”
She went on to say, “I urge the government to provide me with security. This mafia is huge and dangerous, and I fear for my life just like Sushant must have.”
Tanushree first made headlines in 2018 when she reignited her allegations of sexual harassment against veteran actor Nana Patekar, becoming one of the earliest voices in India’s MeToo movement. She now claims that ever since then, she has been facing “suspicious activity” around her.
“I’ve been followed constantly. I’ve been harassed. A maid was planted in my house to spy on me,” she alleged.
The actress also revealed that she intends to approach the police regarding recent incidents. “I will file a complaint tomorrow at the police station,” she said. “I request the authorities not to treat this as a continuation of my previous case but to look at this with a fresh perspective and help me get justice.”
However, she clarified that she does not wish to reopen her older MeToo case. “I’m not trying to reopen the old case. I only want action on the new incidents that are endangering my safety,” she added.
“Ever since I spoke up against Nana Patekar, I’ve been followed wherever I go. My career has been destroyed,” she concluded.
As of now, there has been no official response from the Mumbai Police or any Bollywood figures regarding her claims.
What happened to Tanushree Dutta?
On Tuesday night, Tanushree Dutta took to her Instagram handle and dropped a video in which she claimed that she is being harassed by her family. In the video, Tanushree was seen visibly distressed as she considered taking action against her family members.
“I am being harassed in my own home. Mujhe mere hi ghar mein pareshaan kiya jaa raha hai. I just called the cops. They came and asked me to come to the police station to lodge a proper complaint. I will probably go tomorrow or the day after. I am not well. Mujhe itna pareshaan kiya gaya hai pichle 4 to 5 saalon mein,” she said.
The actress further revealed that her health condition has also deteriorated significantly due to the ongoing stress and added, “Meri tabiyat kharab ho gayi hai. Main kuch kaam nahi kar paa rahi hoon. Mera pura ghar messy ho chuka hai. I cannot even hire maids because they planted maids in my house. I had such a bad experience with maids. They came and stealing stuff from my house. I have to do all my work. I am being troubled in my own house. Please someone help me.”
The Aashiq Banaya Aapne actress stated that she is “sick and tired” of harassment and urged police officials to help her.
Tanushree Dutta’s #MeToo Case
Tanushree Dutta played a pivotal role in launching India’s #MeToo movement in 2018 when she came forward with allegations of sexual harassment against actor Nana Patekar. She claimed that Patekar behaved inappropriately with her during the filming of a song for Horn Ok Please in 2008.

Indian Film Festival of Melbourne will feature the restored version of India’s first LGBTQ film “Badnaam Basti” for its special Pride Celebratory Night next month.
The film released in 1971 and was directed by Prem Kapoor. The Nitin Sethi, Amar Kakkad, and Nandita Thakur starrer follows a driver bandit named Sarnam who rescues Bansuri from assault. He later hires temple worker Shivraj, creating an interconnected relationship between the three.
The film was believed to be lost after its brief appearance in festival circuits but a 35mm print was accidently discovered in the archives at the Arsenal Institute for Film and Video Art in Berlin by two US curators — Simran Bhalla and Michael Metzger — in 2019. They were searching for work by a different director with the same surname and chanced upon the prints of “Badnaam Basti”, according to an article in The Guardian in December 2024. The legacy of the film, which was quite forward for its times for its homo-erotic undertones, will be honoured by this rare showcase, followed by the Australian premiere of “We Are Faheem and Karun”, a tender queer love story by acclaimed filmmaker Onir, according to a release here. This year, IFFM will screen nearly 75 films that reflect themes of inclusivity spanning gender, race, sexuality, disability, and women’s representation.
Speaking about the festival’s commitment to representation, IFFM Director Mitu Bhowmik Lange said, “At IFFM, we believe cinema has the power to connect and create conversations. It is our responsibility to reflect on the world we live in, with all its beautiful diversity. This Pride Night is not just about celebrating queer identity but also reclaiming the space that has long been denied to LGBTQIA+ narratives in Indian cinema. Through films like Badnaam Basti and We Are Faheem and Karun, we honour the past and embrace a future of inclusive storytelling.”

Andy Byron and Kristin Cabot’s alleged affair getting exposed over a ‘kiss cam’ during Coldplay’s Boston concert, has been the topic of discussion on social media for days. Amul has joined in to share a tweet featuring the iconic Amul Girl. While some were in stitches over the post, others were unhappy.
“Amul Topical: Couple caught on ‘kiss cam’ at Coldplay concert!” the dairy company wrote on X, along with a creative.
The visual features an animated version of the viral moment when high-profile executives of Astronomer were spotted cuddling during the concert. A line accompanying it reads, “Hum Tum ek camera may band ho!”, a line most likely inspired by the famous Hindi song ‘Hum Tum Ek Kamre May Band Ho’ from the 1973 film Bobby.
Like their other tropical creatives, Amul’s visual also features the iconic Amul Girl. She is portrayed as a concert-goer looking at the viral moment on screen with a surprise on her face.
Another text insert on the visual reads, “Only scoops, no oops.”
What did social media say?
While some were blown away by the company’s creative take on the viral moment, others were unhappy about Amul girl featuring in a visual about alleged adultery. An individual wrote, “Amul girl ahead of her time – please wait for your adulthood, dear.”
Another added, “Didn’t expect Amul to join this Coldplay couple meme bandwagon.” A third posted, “What’s this? Why this? Not expected from the Amul creative team.” A fourth remarked, “Oh no, please don’t!”

Meanwhile, in an exclusive conversation with News18 Showsha, Mohit Suri stated that he wasn’t approached by the producers to helm Aashiqui 3. But, Mohit is rather thrilled that he could direct Saiyaara without having to worry about the franchise value of Aashiqui. “For me, Aashiqui was a very pure and personal experience and I didn’t want to do it just to capitalise on the title. As they say, to each other own. It’s not like I wouldn’t have been able to live up to the franchise value. Having said that, I’m glad I didn’t do it. I’m glad that I got to make Saiyaara without the expectation or burden of Aashiqui,” he tells us.
Actress Kalki Koechlin, who made her Bollywood debut with Dev D (2009), recalled feeling ‘ugly’ early in her career due to harsh scrutiny. She told Zoom, “Looking back now, I think, ‘I was in my prime, I looked so good—why didn’t I enjoy it?’ There were times when I’d look at myself and feel so ugly, just because someone had made a comment about my teeth or said something like, ‘How can you be an actor?’ I remember how it was really affecting the way I looked at myself.”
Kalki added, “I don’t think any amount of exposure, confidence, or sexual liberation can protect you from the fact that people have a protected identity and can say anything they want on social media.”

Salman Khan was once set to play Lord Ram in a Ramayana film. A reported fallout involving Sohail Khan and Pooja Bhatt allegedly cost him the role, now played by Ranbir Kapoor.
Before Ranbir Kapoor was cast in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, Salman Khan was reportedly set to play Lord Ram in a 90s adaptation. But a fallout involving Sohail Khan and Pooja Bhatt allegedly led to the project being shelved.
Long before Ranbir Kapoor was locked in as Lord Ram for Nitesh Tiwari and Namit Malhotra’s epic Ramayana, Bollywood superstar Salman Khan was reportedly in line to play the divine role. With anticipation mounting for Tiwari’s two-part cinematic retelling—slated to release its first installment on Diwali 2026—a curious chapter from the ’90s has resurfaced, revealing that Salman had once even donned the bow and arrow for a different Ramayana project helmed by none other than his brother, Sohail Khan.
As per reports from Mid-Day and India.com, Sohail had announced a film based on the Ramayana back in the early 1990s, during his initial stint as a director following his debut with Auzaar. Salman Khan was roped in to play Lord Ram, with Sonali Bendre cast as Sita. The buzz around the project grew when actor-filmmaker Pooja Bhatt also came on board.
In fact, nearly 40 percent of the film had reportedly been shot, and Salman had even begun promotional work, appearing in full Ram avatar—complete with traditional attire, bow, and arrow. But the film never saw the light of day. What derailed the project wasn’t creative differences or budgetary constraints—but a budding off-screen relationship.
According to insiders, romance blossomed between Sohail Khan and Pooja Bhatt during the film’s shoot. Pooja had even spoken about marriage during a 1995 interview, indicating the relationship had grown serious. However, when their father, legendary screenwriter Salim Khan, learned about the relationship, he reportedly advised Sohail to step away.
Although Salman tried to maintain peace and salvage the film, things took a turn. Pooja, upset with the cold reception from the Khan family, is said to have exited the film, effectively bringing the entire production to a halt. As a result, the project was shelved indefinitely—and Salman’s portrayal of Lord Ram remained an unrealized dream.

The clip gained traction after it was revealed that both individuals are married to other people — Byron to Megan Kerrigan Byron, and Cabot to Andrew Cabot, CEO of Privateer Rum.

Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi Reboot: Smriti Irani, Amar Upadhyay, Mouni Roy And Pulkit Samrat To Return; Premieres July 29
Ekta Kapoor is officially resuming the legacy of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi with a reboot to mark the show’s 25th anniversary. The new season will consist of 150 episodes—designed to complete its original 2,000‑episode run—and is scheduled to premiere on July 29 2025 at 10:30 PM on Star Plus and JioHotstar.
Smriti Irani and Amar Upadhyay are reprising their beloved roles as Tulsi and Mihir Virani. Their return has generated significant buzz and nostalgia. In exclusive interviews, Amar reflected, “I didn’t think Kyunki… would still be such a big deal … people from all age groups seem excited … the pressure is definitely there” .
Filming began symbolically on July 3, 2025, after overcoming a delay caused by Vastu‑related set redesigns—a move Ekta Kapoor approved to ensure perfection . On‑set security is tight: Smriti Irani has been provided Z‑plus protection, and phones are disallowed for most cast and crew to prevent leaks.
One intriguing element fans are excited about: Mouni Roy—and possibly Karishma Tanna—are rumored to appear in extended cameo roles or in the special promotional video. Although not officially confirmed, insiders suggest Mouni’s return as Krishna Tulsi would bridge the original and the reboot, evoking strong audience nostalgia.
Producer Ekta Kapoor has framed the reboot not merely as a nostalgia play, but as a socially conscious reboot that aims to “give voice to women”, “spark conversation”, and resonate with younger audiences while preserving the essence that made the show iconic.
Anupam Kher reminisces about the camaraderie in early Bollywood, highlighting a moment with Shah Rukh Khan who claimed to be the last superstar.
Anupam Kher says he agrees with Shah Rukh Khan when he said that he is the last superstar.
Veteran actor Anupam Kher recently opened up about the warmth and camaraderie of earlier days in Bollywood, recalling a cherished moment with Shah Rukh Khan where the actor claimed that he was the last superstar.
In a candid conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Anupam — currently promoting his upcoming film Tanvi The Great — spoke about how the film industry once thrived on genuine relationships, long before vanity vans and mobile phones became common.
Anupam agrees SRK is the last superstar
Recalling a notable episode from his talk show, Anupam shared, “Humare rishte bane hai. Na humare pass vanity van hoti thi, na mobile, humare pass rishte hote thee (Our relationships were built genuinely. We didn’t have vanity vans or mobile phones. What we had were real bonds). Mere show pe Shah Rukh Khan ne bola tha ‘I am the last superstar’, and I think what he said was right. (Shah Rukh Khan had once said on my show, ‘I am the last superstar,’ and I believe he was absolutely right).”
Anupam went on to praise the lasting stardom of icons like Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, Salman Khan, and Shah Rukh Khan. “Their stardom is timeless. Mr. Bachchan, especially, is a shining example of someone who faced tough times and rose again, like a true giant,” he said.
About Tanvi The Great
Anupam Kher is currently busy promoting his upcoming directorial Tanvi The Great. The film features an ensemble cast including Anupam Kher, Jackie Shroff, Arvind Swami, Boman Irani, Pallavi Joshi, Karan Tacker, Nasser, and Game of Thrones star Iain Glen.
A film is often fully dominated by its lead actor, until a strong character actor steps in, plays his part to perfection, and leaves a distinct impact. One such legendary actor who consistently delivers powerful performances is Nawazuddin Siddiqui. A perfect example of his brilliance is his portrayal of Chand Nawab in the 2015 release Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Proficient in his craft, Nawazuddin proved that a true actor doesn’t need lengthy screen time to leave a lasting impression.
As the film celebrates its 10th anniversary, it’s worth reminiscing about Nawazuddin as Chand Nawab and understanding why his character is still remembered so fondly.
Bajrangi Bhaijaan is a heartwarming tale that follows the extraordinary journey of a man who takes it upon himself to reunite a mute Pakistani girl with her family across the border. Along the way, he meets Chand Nawab, a Pakistani news reporter. Inspired by a real-life reporter of the same name, the character quickly became a standout element in the film. From his bond of friendship with Pawan (played by Salman Khan), to his impeccable comic timing and emotional depth, Nawazuddin nailed every aspect of the role.
It’s worth noting that very few actors possess the charm to make audiences eagerly await their next scene and Nawazuddin proved he’s one of them. As Chand Nawab, he was a true friend, a loyal journalist, and a compassionate human being. He portrayed a range of emotions with ease, making viewers feel every moment. His very first scene, reporting at a railway station with a train passing in the background, instantly had audiences laughing. That’s when his character truly entered the narrative, and from that point on, viewers kept looking forward to his next appearance.
Actor Akshay Kumar has insured the lives of around 650 stuntmen and stuntwomen across India. The move comes in the wake of renewed scrutiny on stunt safety following the recent death of stuntman Raju during the shoot of a Tamil film directed by Pa Ranjith and starring Arya. According to stunt coordinator Vikram Singh Dahiya, the insurance plan includes both health and accident coverage
Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has taken a step towards addressing safety concerns in the film industry by personally insuring the lives of around 650 stuntmen and stuntwomen across India. The move comes in the wake of renewed scrutiny on stunt safety following the recent death of stuntman Raju during the shoot of a Tamil film directed by Pa Ranjith and starring Arya.
According to stunt coordinator Vikram Singh Dahiya, who has worked on projects such as Dhadak 2, Jigra, Gunjan Saxena, Antim, and OMG 2, the insurance plan now in place includes both health and accident coverage.
He said, “Thanks to Akshay sir, around 650 to 700 stuntmen and action crew members in Bollywood are now covered under insurance. The policy includes both health and accident coverage. If a stunt performer is injured, whether on or off set, they can avail of cashless medical treatment up to Rs 5 to Rs 5.5 lakh.”
The initiative may offer temporary relief to many workers, but it also highlights the ongoing need for structured guidelines, standardised safety protocols, and greater accountability on sets across the country.
Stunt performers have long worked in high-risk environments with minimal safety measures and little financial protection. Many in the action community lack access to health or accident insurance, leaving them and their families vulnerable in case of injury or death on the job.
Stuntman Raju’s death
In a shocking incident, renowned stunt artist, Raju, died after a stunt went wrong on the sets of filmmaker PA Ranjith’s upcoming film. The incident took place on July 13 and a horrifying video of the mishap surfaced online from the sets of the film.

Superman, the latest big-budget action film featuring the iconic DC superhero, powered to the top of the North American box office in its debut weekend with US$122 million (S$156 million) in ticket sales, industry estimates showed Sunday (Jul 13).
The Warner Bros and DC Studios film – directed by James Gunn – stars up-and-comer David Corenswet as the Man of Steel, and The Marvelous Mrs Maisel star Rachel Brosnahan as his perennial love interest Lois Lane.
“This is an outstanding domestic opening for the seventh episode in a superhero story that’s been filmed for over 75 years,” said analyst David A Gross of Franchise Entertainment Research.
“Mr Gunn chose not to rely on big stars. The storytelling and filmmaking are doing the work here.”
Jurassic World: Rebirth – the latest installment in the blockbuster dinosaur saga – slipped to second place in its second week of release at US$40 million in the United States and Canada, Exhibitor Relations said.
The Universal film, starring Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey and Mahershala Ali, takes viewers to an abandoned island research facility for the original Jurassic Park theme park, where secrets – and genetically mutated dinosaurs – are lurking.
F1: The Movie, the Apple and Warner Bros flick starring Brad Pitt as a washed-up Formula One driver who gets one last shot at redemption, took third place at US$13 million.

Shah Rukh posted a black and white picture of the couple from last year’s celebrations. “Wishing this beautiful couple a very happy anniversary… here’s to many more years of togetherness… Wishing you love and health always. Love you both. @radhikamambani & Anant,” he wrote.

It was attended by Kim and Khloe Kardashian, John Cena, Nick Jonas, and Priyanka Chopra were there, as well as Bollywood stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Deepika Padukone.
At the wedding, Rema and Fonsi performed their respective hit songs Calm Down and Despacito. Justin Bieber performed at the couple’s sangeet ceremony. Rihanna was one of many performers at the three-day pre-wedding bash in March.
What’s next for Shah Rukh Khan and Ranveer Singh
Shah Rukh Khan will be seen next in Siddharth Anand’s King. The movie stars a huge ensemble cast, including his daughter Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukerji and others.
Ajay Devgn, Ravi Kishan, Sanjay Mishra, Mrunal Thakur, Chunky Panday, Deepak Dobriyal, Ashwini Kalsekar, Kubbra Sait, Roshni Walia, and Sharat Saxena attended the launch of the trailer of their film Son Of Sardaar 2 in Mumbai. Since the film is about a sardar, a journalist asked Ajay Devgn to comment on the recent controversy involving the sardar that has made India proud, Diljit Dosanjh.
Son Of Sardaar 2 trailer launch: Ajay Devgn BREAKS silence on Diljit Dosanjh controversy: “I will not blame anybody…both sides need a conversation”
Ajay Devgn replied, “I don’t know where the trolling comes from aur kya sahi hai aur kya galat. I am not in his shoes to comment on that. Uski apni problem hogi. Those who are saying (criticizing him), they are doing so as they hold a certain point of view.”
Ajay Devgn continued, “So, when there are two diverse points of view, woh baith ke solve kiye ja sakte hai. Aap apne hisaab se soch rahe hai, woh apne hisaab se soch rahe hai, aisa nahin hota. So, I will not blame anybody. I will not even say ki isme se koi galat hai aur koi sahi hai. I believe that they need a conversation.”
Diljit Dosanjh got into trouble as his recently released film Sardaar Ji 3 stars Pakistani star Hania Aamir. There has been a massive outrage against Pakistani artists in India, more so after the ghastly attack on tourists in Pahalgam, Kashmir on April 22. There were speculations that Sardaar Ji 3 features Hania but the makers remained mum about it. The truth was out once the trailer was released a few days before release. Though the makers didn’t release the film in India, there was a lot of criticism over this issue. FWICE even took the decision to boycott Diljit. Many, however, are in support of the global star and they feel that the outrage is unfair since he shot with Hania Aamir before the Pahalgam attack.
Actor and producer Neha Dhupia recently addressed a packed audience of Dermatologists at an event where she was unexpectedly questioned by a male doctor about her “secrets” for looking young in her 40s and if she possibly underwent any surgery to look younger. Calm yet firm, Neha turned the moment into an important conversation around age, appearance, and the judgments women often face.
Responding with grace, Neha shared that her youthful energy comes from practicing yoga regularly, which keeps her grounded and rejuvenated inside and out, to which she got a roaring response in favour to her appropriate response. However, she also highlighted the importance of respecting women’s choices and appearances, regardless of age.
Neha Dhupia shared, “I’ve been practicing yoga for years, and it has genuinely helped me stay balanced, calm, and healthy from the inside, which reflects on the outside too. But I want to say this clearly — it’s okay to follow any pattern you wish to look and feel a certain way at any age, but passing judgments on how someone looks, especially a woman, is not okay. This is so back handed and so normalised to ask women of what their “supposed” secret to beauty or looking younger is. I don’t think such comments should be welcomed. We need to stop putting women under a microscope for their appearance, whether they are in their 20s or 40s. I am grateful that yoga has helped me feel the way I do today, but let’s remember that true beauty lies in embracing yourself and allowing others to do the same without fear of judgment”.
Neha’s candid and empowering statement received warm applause from the audience, reaffirming her voice as a champion for women’s confidence and choice, on and off screen.

As we said earlier, not many celebrities have spoken about it. But, on Thursday, at the teaser launch of KD, when Shilpa Shetty was asked about the controversy, the actress said, “Mala Marathi maahit aahe. Me Maharashtrachi mulgi aahe (I know Marathi. I am a daughter of Maharashtra). But today, we are here to talk about KD. If you’re trying to stir controversy beyond the film, we won’t encourage that.”
She further joked that their film KD is a multilingual movie, and they can dub it in Marathi as well.

Video: Firing At Comedian Kapil Sharma’s Newly Opened KAP’S CAFE In Canada’s Surrey | X|@RiteshLakhiCA
A shooting incident occurred at comedian Kapil Sharma’s newly opened KAP’s Café in Surrey on the night of July 9, just days after its launch. According to reports, the café had been operational for only 2-3 days before the attack.
An alleged video of the incident has surfaced on social media. The purported video shows an assailant firing multiple rounds from inside a vehicle, targeting the café’s exterior. Fortunately, no customers were present at the time, suggesting the attack may have been an intimidation tactic rather than an attempt to cause casualties.

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s a … a purple and orange shape-shifting chemical compound?
Writer-director James Gunn’s “Superman” was always going to be a strange chemistry of filmmaker and material. Gunn, the mind behind “Guardians of the Galaxy” and “The Suicide Squad,” has reliably drifted toward a B-movie superhero realm populated (usually over-populated) with the lesser-known freaks, oddities and grotesquerie of back-issue comics.
But you don’t get more mainstream than Superman. And let’s face it, unless Christopher Reeve is in the suit, the rock-jawed Man of Steel can be a bit of a bore. Much of the fun and frustration of Gunn’s movie is seeing how he stretches and strains to make Superman, you know, interesting.
In the latest revamp for the archetypal superhero, Gunn does a lot to give Superman (played with an easy charm by David Corenswet ) a lift. He scraps the origin story. He gives Superman a dog. And he ropes in not just expected regulars like Lois Lane (Rachel Brosnahan) and Lex Luthor (Nicholas Hoult) but some less conventional choices — none more so than that colorful jumble of elements, Metamorpho (Anthony Carrigan).
Metamorpho, a melancholy, mutilated man whose powers were born out of tragedy, is just one of many side shows in “Superman.” But he’s the most representative of what Gunn is going for. Gunn might favor a traditional-looking hero at the center, like Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord in “Guardians of the Galaxy.” And Corenswet, complete with hair curl, looks the part, too. But Gunn’s heart is with the weirdos who soldier on.
The heavy lift of “Superman” is making the case that the perfect superhuman being with “S” on his chest is strange, too. He’s a do-gooder at a time when no one does good anymore.
Not everything works in “Superman.” For those who like their Superman classically drawn, Gunn’s film will probably seem too irreverent and messy. But for anyone who found Zack Snyder’s previous administration painfully ponderous, this “Superman,” at least, has a pulse.
It would be hard to find a more drastic 180 in franchise stewardship. Where Snyder’s films were super-serious mythical clashes of colossuses, Gunn’s “Superman” is lightly earthbound, quirky and sentimental. When this Superman flies, he even keeps his arms back, like an Olympic skeleton rider.
We begin not on Krypton or Kansas but in Antarctica, near the Fortress of Solitude. The opening titles set-up the medias res beginning. Three centuries ago, metahumans first appeared on Earth. Three minutes ago, Superman lost a battle for the first time. Lying bloodied in the snow, he whistles and his faithful super dog, Krypto, comes running.
Like some of Gunn’s other novelty gags (I’m looking at you Groot), Krypto is both a highlight and overused gag throughout. Superman is in the midst of a battle by proxy with Luthor. From atop his Luthor Corp. skyscraper headquarters, Luther gives instructions to a team sitting before computer screens while, on a headset, barking out coded battle directions to drone-assisted henchmen. “13-B!” he shouts, like a Bingo caller.
Whether this is an ideal localizing of main characters in conflict is a debate that recedes a bit when, back in Metropolis, Clark Kent returns to the Daily Planet. There’s Wendell Pierce as the editor-in-chief, Perry White, and Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen. But the character of real interest here is, of course, Lois.
She and Kent are already an item in “Superman.” When alone, Lois chides him over the journalistic ethics of interviewing himself after some derring-do, and questions his flying into countries without their leaders’ approval. Brosnahan slides so comfortably into the role that I wonder if “Superman” ought to have been “Lois,” instead. Her scenes with Corenswet are the best in the film, and the movie loses its snap when she’s not around.
That’s unfortunately for a substantial amount of time. Luthor traps Superman in a pocket universe (enter Metamorpho, among others) and the eccentric members of the Justice Gang — Nathan Fillion’s Green Lantern, Edi Gathegi’s Mister Terrific and Isabela Merced’s Hawkgirl — are called upon to lend a hand. They come begrudgingly. But if there’s anyone else that comes close to stealing the movie, it’s Gathegi, who meets increasingly absurd cataclysm with wry deadpan.
The fate of the world, naturally, again turns iffy. There’s a rift in the universe, not to mention some vaguely defined trouble in Boravia and Jarhanpur. In such scenes, Gunn’s juggling act is especially uneasy and you can feel the movie lurching from one thing to another. Usually, that’s Krypto’s cue to fly back into the movie and run amok.
Gunn, who now presides over DC Studios with producer Peter Safran, is better with internal strife than he is international politics. Superman is often called “the Kryptonian” or “the alien” by humans, and Gunn leans into his outsider status. Not for the first time, Superman’s opponents try to paint him as an untrustworthy foreigner. With a modicum of timeliness, “Superman” is an immigrant story.
