Ayodhya GST Deputy Commissioner Prashant Kumar Singh’s elder brother has alleged that his brother used a fake disability certificate to secure a government job, and has insisted that his resignation might be an attempt to evade investigation and possible recovery.
A complaint alleging the use of a fake disability certificate to secure a government job has been lodged against Ayodhya Deputy Commissioner (GST) Prashant Kumar Singh. The complaint has been filed by his elder brother, Dr. Vishwajeet Singh, prompting the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Mau, to initiate a formal enquiry into the matter.
The development comes a day after Prashant Kumar Singh submitted his resignation to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday. In his resignation, Singh said he was resigning in support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Adityanath, saying that he was “deeply hurt” by what he described as “baseless allegations” made by Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati against the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister.
Singh’s resignation closely followed the resignation of Bareilly City Magistrate Alankar Agnihotri, who resigned on the Republic Day, citing the alleged mistreatment of Shankaracharya’s disciples during the Magh Mela and opposing the UGC’s Promotion of Equity in Higher Education Institutions Regulations, 2026. Agnihotri was later suspended by the Uttar Pradesh government.
According to Dr. Vishwajeet Singh, he had first raised concerns in 2021, alleging that his younger brother had secured his government appointment using a forged disability certificate. He claimed that on August 20, 2021, he formally requested a re-examination of the certificate. “He was called twice to appear before the medical board, but he did not present himself for examination,” Dr. Singh alleged.
In another letter to the CMO, Mau, Dr. Vishwajeet Singh urged a renewed investigation into the authenticity of the disability certificate. He has also suggested that the resignation could be an attempt to avoid scrutiny and possible recovery proceedings. “Resigning from the post of Deputy Commissioner (GST) is just a drama to avoid investigation and potential recovery,” he said, adding that the eye condition cited in the certificate allegedly does not typically occur in individuals under 50 years of age.
