Andhra family of four jumps into Godavari River; financial crisis suspected

A family of four from West Godavari reportedly jumped into the Godavari River from the bridge. The mother was rescued by local fishermen. Police have launched a search for three missing members as financial troubles are being examined.

A family of four from Andhra Pradesh’s West Godavari district jumped into the Godavari River, police said.

The family has been identified as Namburi Srinivas, 45, his wife Namburi Padmini, 42, and their two children of 15 and 16 years of age.

According to preliminary information, the family travelled from Tanuku, West Godavari district on two motorcycles before reaching the Chinchinada Vasishta Godavari Bridge. They reportedly jumped into the river from the bridge.

Padmini was rescued by local fishermen shortly after she fell into the river. She was taken to a government hospital in Tanuku for treatment.
