The weather turned pleasant in Rajasthan’s Mount Abu after surprise rain graced the hill station on Sunday night. Cloudy skies were seen in Mount Abu, and the hill station was hazy with mist by Monday morning. Tourists enjoyed the unexpected weather, but the foggy roads also caused traffic inconvenience as people turned vehicle headlights on even during the day.
Mount Abu, renowned as the ‘honeymooners’ paradise’, sits around the Nakki Lake. Seeking a getaway from the heat of April, many tourists visit Mount Abu, where the temperature usually falls between 16 degrees to 27 degrees Celsius. In May, it usually soars to 23-37 degrees Celsius, however, it seems that the hill station will be pleasant even in May this year due to the surprise drizzle.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), generally cloudy skies and “with possibility of rainfall and thunderstorm” are predicted for Mount Abu until May 10.
Rajasthan weather: IMD issues orange alert
Rainfall and thunderstorms are likely to continue over Northwest India for the next 4 to 5 days. A temperature rise of about 2 to 3 degrees Celsius is possible for the region after 4 days. The IMD has issued an orange alert for May 5, 6, and 7 in Rajasthan.
Regions of eastern and western Rajasthan, Punjab, Jammu, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Gujarat and Jammu experienced gusty winds and thunderstorms between Sunday and Monday. Several parts of Uttarakhand, West Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh witnessed hailstorms, whereas parts of Meghalaya and Odisha experienced heavy rain.
