UK MP Bob Blackman on Tuesday called for global solidarity with India following the Pahalgam terror attack, emphasising how Pakistan was operating as a “failed state”. Expresing condolences for the victims, he highlighted India’s strong response to terrorism in the aftermath through its Operation Sindoor and questioned who really was in charge of Pakistan—democracy or its military generals.
Speaking to ANI, Bob Blackman said, “We had a meeting with senior delegation from India, from all parts of India…from all parties which is important. They gave us briefing on the situation with a terrible attack in Pahalgam. Everyone from the UK expresses their condolences and support for the people of India who have suffered this terrorist outrage.”
“India’s response to that was by hitting terrorist bases and sending a very strong message to Pakistan that if it continues to escalate the conflict, then India will strike back. But India would actually want peace and tranquility between the two neighbouring countries,” he added.
Blackman asserted that it was important to stand together with India and ensure cooperation not only in trade but in security and defence cooperation as well. “We heard quite rightly the question mark of money that is sent to Pakistan – what is it used for? Is it being used for buying Chinese weapons to enable terrorists to attack India. Special aid funding going to Pakistan, should be going for the eradication of polio and other infectious diseases that benefit the people of Pakistan,” he said.
