A shooting occurred near Howard University during homecoming, with police responding around 8:23 p.m. on Howard Place.

Authorities reported a shooting near Howard University’s campus in Washington, DC, on Friday evening during homecoming festivities.
The Metropolitan Police Department said officers responded around 8:23 PM to gunfire on the 600 block of Howard Place, near the University Yard and the School of Architecture. According to D.C. Fire and EMS, at least four people were shot, with one in serious condition and another in critical condition; the status of the remaining two victims is not yet known.
Police have not released details about any suspects or motives. Multiple road closures have been set up and will remain in place until further notice.
