RCB Defeat GT By 5 Wickets
Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) defeated Gujarat Titans (GT) by five wickets as they raced to their fifth win of the IPL 2026, and climbed to the second spot of the points table.
The GT openers Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill got off to a slowish start. However, they soon picked up some serious momentum. For the first wicket, the duo put on 128 runs, thus registering their 8th 100+ run stand in the IPL. Shubman Gill got out for 32, but Sudharsan continued the onslaught. He went on to slam his third century in the IPL, thus becoming the second GT batter after Shubman Gill to score a century.
However, after the wicket of Sudharsan for 100 runs, the run rate slowed down for GT, as the RCB bowlers got a massive grip on the batters, and boundaries dried up. However, the GT debutant Jason Holder played a blinder at the end, scoring 23 from 10 runs, that powered GT to 205.
RCB got off to a shaky start, as they lost their first wicket with 24 runs on the board in the form of Jacob Bethell. After that, it was RCB all the way, as Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal got all guns blazing. The duo put on 117 for the second wicket. Padikkal went on to score 55 before getting out. However, it was Virat Kohli who shone the brightest as he smashed 81 runs.
