Two MLAs, Anil Jha and Abhay Patil, were among six people injured after a Swift hit a divider and collided with an Innova near Delhi’s ITO.
Two MLAs were among six people who sustained minor injuries after two vehicles collided near the PWD office at Delhi’s ITO on the night of August 22, police said. The accident occurred at nearly 9.30 pm when a Swift car travelling from Laxmi Nagar towards ITO hit a road divider, crossed the railing and crashed into an Innova coming from the opposite direction.
The injured included Anil Jha, the sitting MLA from Delhi’s Kirari Vidhan Sabha, and Abhay Patil, an MLA from Karnataka.
According to the police, those involved in the accident suffered minor injuries and were shifted to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash (LNJP) Hospital.
They were reported to be in stable condition.
Swift Car Crosses Divider, Hits Innova
According to the Delhi Police, a PCR call regarding the road accident was received at IP Estate police station at around 9.30 pm.
A police team subsequently reached the spot and found the two damaged vehicles involved in the collision.
Police said the Swift was being driven by 32-year-old Ashutosh Pandey, who was travelling with his wife and two minor children from Laxmi Nagar towards ITO.
“Near the PWD Office, the Swift car hit the divider and, after crossing the railing, collided with the Innova coming from ITO towards Laxmi Nagar,” the Delhi Police said.
The Innova was carrying Jha and Patil at the time of the collision. The accident took place near the PWD office, in the vicinity of the old Police Headquarters.
Visuals from the accident site showed extensive damage to the front portion of the Innova following the head-on collision. The crash also disrupted the movement of vehicles on the road.

Following the collision, the Fire Brigade was called to assist in removing the damaged vehicles from the roadway and restoring traffic flow.
