The developments come shortly after Trump announced that he was replacing White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles with close aide Stephen Miller.

The US Justice Department is witnessing a fresh wave of senior-level departures, with two more top officials resigning on Friday, a day after its civil rights chief Harmeet Dhillon announced her exit.

The latest departures include Assistant Attorney General for National Security John Eisenberg and Jason Reding Quinones, the US Attorney for the Southern District of Florida, who was overseeing an investigation into allegations of a conspiracy against President Donald Trump.

The developments come shortly after Trump announced that he was replacing White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles with close aide Stephen Miller, in another major change within his administration following the Republican Party’s poor performance in the midterm elections.

Two More Senior DOJ Officials Step Down
Attorney General Todd Blanche confirmed the resignations of Eisenberg and Quinones on Friday.

Blanche praised Eisenberg for his work in the National Security Division, saying he had served with distinction and strengthened the country’s ability to deal with domestic and foreign threats.

Quinones, meanwhile, was appointed US Attorney for the Southern District of Florida last year. His office was tasked with investigating claims by Trump that former intelligence and law enforcement officials had conspired against him.

According to an Associated Press report, his departure follows concerns among senior officials in Washington over his handling of the investigation. The probe has faced repeated delays, staff changes and setbacks, with investigators postponing scheduled grand jury appearances by several witnesses.

Dhillon’s Exit Came A Day Earlier

The latest resignations follow the departure of Harmeet Dhillon, who headed the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division.

Blanche announced on Thursday that he had accepted her resignation. Dhillon said in her resignation letter, cited by US media, that she had submitted it in October and agreed to stay on until the midterm elections.

During her tenure, Dhillon was involved in the administration’s unsuccessful efforts to obtain voter registration lists from around 30 states ahead of the elections.
