A wellness coach identified as Mitushi Ajmera took to Instagram to share her “bad” experience at Zakir Khan’s concert held at Indira Gandhi Stadium, where she said she couldn’t find any clean washrooms and many were closed. In her video, she raised concerns for pregnant women who cannot use such dirty washrooms and emphasised that “clean washrooms should be a basic right, not a privilege.” Her video has resonated with many online.
Her video was titled, “Why do women avoid drinking water at events?” In the clip, she says, “Main Zakir Khan ke show mein gayi thi, Delhi ke Indira Gandhi Government Stadium mein. Full energy, performance immaculate — but saara josh neeche aa gaya jab main washroom gayi. Raaste mein aur bhi restroom areas dekhe jo band the. Band kyun the? Kya unme sona chandi laga hua hai? Aur jo ek do khule the, unka haal bahut kharab tha — seats tooti hui thi, flush nahi chal rahe the. 30–40 ladies line mein thi, jinme ek do pregnant ladies bhi thi, aur unhe un khubsoorat toilet mein restroom use karna pada.”
(“I went to Zakir Khan’s show at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi Government Stadium. The energy was amazing, the performance was immaculate — but all my excitement vanished the moment I went to the washroom. I saw several restroom areas on the way, but they were locked. Why were they locked? What, were they made of gold or silver? And the few that were open were in terrible condition — the seats were broken, the flushes didn’t work. Around 30 to 40 women were standing in line, including a couple of pregnant women, who had no choice but to use those filthy toilets.”)
She further said,“Yeh wahi ladies hain jinhone tickets khareede the. Main wellness coach hoon aur main roz sunti hoon ki kitni ladies paani peena avoid karti hain jab wo aise events mein jaati hain ya travel karti hain, sirf isliye taaki unhe toilet use na karna pade. Aur iska result hota hai UTI, kidney issues, dehydration — sirf isliye kyunki unke basic sanitation par koi dhyaan nahi deta. Indira Gandhi Stadium ek government facility hai. Zakir Khan aur event organisers ne paise diye honge, toh toilets locked kyun the? Basic facility kyun missing thi?”
