If there is one place in India that almost everyone has on their bucket list, it is the Taj Mahal. And honestly, once you see it in person, you understand why. Built in the 1600s by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan for his wife Mumtaz Mahal, the Taj is essentially a grand “I’ll love you forever” gift. The Taj sits on the banks of the Yamuna River in Agra, glowing differently throughout the day.

A vlogger went viral on Instagram while exploring the Taj, and the internet had one reaction: Mika Singh. People couldn’t stop pointing out how much he resembled the singer. In the video, he turned attention to the back of the Taj, near the Yamuna River, where a sign clearly reads: “Please do not throw coins here.” Yet, tourists can’t seem to resist. Coins glitter across a rectangular opening that leads down a staircase deep below the monument. The vlogger, clearly frustrated, points out how people keep tossing coins, which can be seen through the mesh covering the stairs.

“The history teacher we needed,” the caption read. The video caught the attention of the internet.

A user commented, “Mika Singh hai kya ye? (Is he Mika Singh?)”

Another wrote, “ I love this video.”

“Best guide,” a comment read.

In truth, no one really knows why coins are thrown there. Probably herd behaviour. People see others doing it and follow along, the same way folks throw coins into rivers from trains for good luck.
