HOWARD Stern has had a number of feuds over the years, including one with a late-night legend, one with a Today Show host, and another with a Gen Z mogul, plus many, many more.
Stern, 72, has started beef with plenty of people over the years, and his vitriol has become practically synonymous with The Howard Stern Show brand.
The U.S. Sun has previously exclusively revealed some of the ill will the radio icon harbors, but here is a non exhaustive list of Stern’s biggest beefs over the years.
Stern had taken to sending jabs at the late-night legend David Letterman, despite the pair having been pals when they were both working at NBC‘s home at 30 Rockefeller Center in midtown Manhattan in the early 1980s.
The King of All Media and the arguable King of Late Night used to speak on the phone, but Stern started broadcasting details of those calls on his radio show, which Letterman did not appreciate.
Stern would also insult Letterman and take shots at his then-girlfriend, Regina Lasko.
The SiriusXM star later apologized to Letterman in 2011.
The shock jock came on The Late Show with David Letterman and said: “I really want to apologize to you for doing that, and if you should call me again, I would not reveal what you said.”
He also locked horns with Kathie Lee Gifford, but again, he decided to reconcile with the daytime Today Show host later in life.
Stern started taking shots at Kathie Lee back in 1995 after Gifford sang the National Anthem at the Super Bowl that year.
According to her book, I Want You To Matter, as she sang, she heard the crowd booing, only to later learn Stern had called on his legions of fans to jeer at her introduction.
She decided to forgive him.
In 2011, when he appeared on the Today Show, she went out of her way to congratulate him on his hosting gig on America’s Got Talent.
She wrote that he later left her a voicemail, in which he said “I can’t believe how nice you were to me.
“I’ve been so rude to you and you were so nice. I just need to apologize to you. Please call me.”
They spoke, and she told the shock jock she had forgiven him years ago, and even had him over for dinner.
As The U.S. Sun exclusively revealed, he also allegedly has disdain for fellow SiriusXM star Alex Cooper; however, he attempted to deny it on a broadcast in September of last year.
Sources had claimed that he was jealous of the Gen Z star’s mega power and influence.
Stern took to his show in September of 2025 and said he had read that he was “leaving because of Alex Cooper,” though there were no reports to that effect.
While attempting to change the narrative, Stern pretended not to know who she was.
The radio icon has also been jealous of another SiriusXM star, Andy Cohen.
The Bravo honcho has become somewhat of a Golden Boy over at the streaming giant.
