A MYSTERIOUS NASA image of Mars has been circulating on social media, leaving some wondering if there was a jellyfish-like figure moving around.
The figure has continued to raise questions and speculations since it was captured by NASA‘s Curiosity rover on August 20, 2023.
The Curiosity rover, which has been investigating whether Mars could have supported small forms of life for over a decade, took several snapshots on August 20, 2023 around 6:27pm ET, showing a dusty landscape with rocky hills.
In a panoramic shot, a small figure could be seen in the left corner, which appeared to have a body with two small legs poking out.
Images taken less than a minute before showed no signs of the mysterious creature.
Speculation about the figure was fueled on Wednesday after a social media user shared it on X.
“Surfer on Mars??” one X user said.
“Not sure what it is, but it is something interesting for sure,” another user wrote.
“First image of a jelly-fish UFO [on] Mars. Great,” said another.
“Looks like a scarecrow to me! Really, what is it? Doesn’t look like a dust devil!” another chimed in.
While many were left puzzled about what the figure could be, one pointed out that it “looks like dead pixels.”
Jean Ward, an independent Mars researcher, also shared the image, writing on X, “Jellyfish-shaped UFO/UAP Spotted on Mars.”
“This one seems to be interacting with the surface. It also reminds me of a tripod-like object.”
There were no other pictures captured on August 20, 2023 of the figure, so it remains unclear if it kept moving, or if it was just a glitch with the camera.
