Rubio Greets India On I-Day, Says Modi-Trump Bond Made US-India Ties ‘Stronger Than Ever’

Rubio credited the personal relationship between US President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi with helping strengthen bilateral ties.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has extended warm greetings to the people of India on the country’s 80th Independence Day, saying the relationship between the two nations is “stronger than ever”.

In a statement issued on Friday, Rubio credited the personal relationship between US President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi with helping strengthen bilateral ties.

“On behalf of the United States of America, I extend warm congratulations to the people of India on their Independence Day,” Rubio said.

“Thanks to the personal relationship between President Trump and Prime Minister Modi, the U.S.-India relationship continues to grow and is stronger than ever,” he added.

Defence, AI And Space Cooperation

Rubio highlighted growing cooperation between Washington and New Delhi in defence, energy security, critical minerals, artificial intelligence, space and commerce.

He said the partnership was making the two countries, as well as the wider Indian Ocean region, “safer, stronger, and more prosperous”.

“The deep ties of friendship and family between our two peoples form the foundation of a partnership that is innovative, resilient, and forward-looking,” Rubio said.

“The United States looks forward to the future our two countries will build together,” he added.

India and the US have in recent years expanded cooperation across defence, technology, trade and strategic sectors, with both sides seeking to deepen their partnership.
