Rs 3 Cr Heist in Karnataka Bank: Masked Men Loot SBI Branch in Vijayapura, Flee With Gold and Cash

A bank robbery occurred at a State Bank of India branch in Chadchan town, where masked men stole over Rs 3 crore in gold and cash late Tuesday. The gang, armed and numbering more than three, attacked after hours, restraining staff.

In a dramatic bank robbery, masked men looted gold and cash worth over Rs three crore from a State Bank of India branch in Chadchan town of Vijayapura district late Tuesday.
Police said more than three men stormed the bank after transaction hours, held staff at gunpoint, and tied them up before escaping with the valuables.
The gang used a Suzuki EVA vehicle with a fake number plate, investigators said. After the heist, they moved towards Pandharpur in Maharashtra. The vehicle later entered Hulajanti village in Solapur district, where it collided with a two-wheeler. Villagers told police the driver fled with the stolen material after an argument.

Preliminary reports suggest that 398 of the 425 gold bags in the branch, weighing about 20 kg and valued at Rs 2 crore, were taken. The robbers also fled with Rs 1.04 crore in cash.

CCTV footage is being examined, and a detailed investigation is under way, police said.
