New Delhi: Prince Rahim Aga Khan V arrived in India on Thursday on a six-day visit at the invitation of Vice President CP Radhakrishnan, during which he is scheduled to hold a series of meetings with the country’s top leadership.

The visit, which will continue till September 15, marks one of the Aga Khan’s key international engagements since he assumed the role of the 50th hereditary Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslim community following the passing of his father, Prince Karim Aga Khan IV, earlier this year.

According to officials, Prince Rahim Aga Khan V will hold formal talks with Vice President Radhakrishnan on Friday. The discussions are expected to cover a range of issues relating to India’s longstanding engagement with institutions associated with the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), as well as matters of mutual interest.

During his stay in the national capital, the Aga Khan is also scheduled to call on President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He will additionally meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar.
