Days after US President Donald Trump imposed a 50% tariff on Indian exports, citing Delhi’s continued purchase of Russian oil, PM Modi invited Putin to visit India later this year for the Annual Bilateral Summit.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin over the phone. In their conversation, the Russian President briefed PM Modi on the latest developments concerning Ukraine, whilst PM Modi reiterated India’s consistent position for a peaceful resolution of the conflict.

“The two leaders also reviewed progress in the bilateral agenda, and reaffirmed their commitment to further deepen the Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership between India and Russia,” said a release from the Prime Minister’s Office.
