The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has told Pakistan players to not speak about Imran Khan during their ongoing tour of England. The ex-captain’s imprisonment has become a major issue after both his sons gave an interview to Michael Atherton.

After Javed Miandad and Moin Khan raised their voices in favor of the jailed Imran Khan, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has imposed a strict diktat on their players not to speak about the 1992 World Cup-winning captain. The subject has become a source of controversy during their ongoing series against England after the host broadcaster SKY Sports aired an interview with Imran’s sons.
The interaction was conducted by former England captain Michael Atherton and shot in the writers’ room inside Lord’s just a day before the second Test kick-started. The interview was aired during the lunch break of the second day of play.
It later emerged that PCB tried to stop the English broadcaster from playing the interview and even threatened to boycott the match. However, their attempt failed, while their players also returned to the field for play for the second session.
In a post-day press conference, the visiting team’s head coach, Sarfaraz Khan, was asked about the plan to boycott the match. In reply, the former captain of the Men in Green claimed that it was something that he was not aware of.
“No we don’t know anything about it, we were having lunch,” said Sarfaraz in an interaction.
As per a report from news agency Press Trust of India (PTI), the PCB has advised all players in the squad not to say anything about Imran if asked by the media.
