Pakistan Refuse To Formally Inform ICC About Boycotting T20 WC Match Against India: Report

The absence of any official communication from PCB will mean that the ICC will have to wait before deciding its next course of action.

akistan will not send any formal email to the ICC regarding boycotting the T20 World Cup match against India

The drama around the India-Pakistan ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 match in Colombo is not ending. A day after the Government of Pakistan tweeted that their men’s cricket team will boycott the Group A match against India in Colombo on February 15, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) have decided not to send any formal mail to the International Cricket Council (ICC) regarding boycotting the match against India.

“Pakistan will not send any formal email to the ICC regarding boycotting the T20 World Cup match against India,” sources told NDTV.

If PCB will not formally inform the global cricket body about their government’s decision then the India-Pakistan match will remain active and the drama over boycott will go on for coming days as well.

According to the report, the ICC is waiting for an official communication from the PCB, and the absence of any official communication will mean that the ICC may also have to wait before deciding its next course of action.

India to travel Colombo despite Pakistan’s boycott

India will travel to Colombo for their T20 World Cup 2026 match against Pakistan on February 15 and attend the pre-match press conference on the eve of the fixture. Indian skipper Suryakumar Yadav will have to walk out for the toss to get a walkover. Once Pakistan skipper Salman Ali Agha doesn’t appear for the toss, the referee will award a walkover and two points to India.

If India doesn’t go to Colombo, the referee will award one point each to both teams.

ICC to ban Pakistan?

ICC will punish Pakistan if they boycott match against India and they potentially face the risk of being barred from international cricket as well. There’s a possibility that ICC may take a strong stance and ban Pakistan from participating in the upcoming shortest-format mega event.

If Pakistan is thrown out of the T20 World Cup 2026, then they are likely to be replaced by Uganda.
