A Pakistan Cargo aircraft with five crew members on board went missing on Tuesday evening after losing radar contact near Karachi, the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) said.
The aircraft was travelling from Sharjah in the UAE to Karachi when it reported a navigation system issue.
According to a PAA statement shared on X, the K2 Airways B737 cargo flight reported the problem at 9.18 pm local time and was guided by the Karachi Area Control Centre (ACC).
Following the occurrence RESCUE COORD CENTRE has been activated and coordinated Search & Rescue launched at sea through various agencies to locate the missing aircraft.
There were five crew members onboard the aircraft.

However, a few minutes later, the aircraft was seen rapidly descending on radar and making a sudden change in direction. Radar contact and communication with the aircraft were then lost around 155 nautical miles west of Karachi.
Search Operation Launched
Following the incident, the Rescue Coordination Centre was activated and a search and rescue operation was launched at sea with the help of various agencies to locate the missing aircraft.
The PAA confirmed that there were five crew members on board the aircraft but did not provide further details about their identities or the current status of the crew.
“Following the occurrence RESCUE COORD CENTRE has been activated and coordinated Search & Rescue launched at sea through various agencies to locate the missing aircraft,” the PAA said.
