
In a bid to boost regional cooperation, the Indian Navy hosted the Indian Ocean Naval Symposium (IONS) Working Group Meeting on Maritime Security (IWG-MARSEC) on June 24 and 25 in New Delhi.
The meeting brought together representatives from 13 IONS member nations: Australia, Bangladesh, France, India, Kenya, Mozambique, Oman, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Tanzania, and Thailand.
The IWG-MARSEC serves as a key platform for dialogue and cooperation among navies in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).
Rear Admiral Nirbhay Bapna, Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Foreign Cooperation & Intelligence), reaffirmed India’s commitment to regional maritime security and highlighted the importance of multilateral efforts to tackle evolving challenges at sea.
