Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei on Saturday warned the US of “unforgettable lessons” and said that the ceasefire violation proves the ‘worthlessness’ of President Donald Trump’s signature.
Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei has sharply criticised the United States, saying a recent violation of an agreement underscores the “worthlessness” of the American president’s signature. In his recent message, Khamenei accused Washington of repeatedly failing to honour its commitments and warned of ‘unforgettable lessons’ if the US continues its attacks.
Khamenei said the alleged breach demonstrates a pattern of unreliability and reinforces Iran’s long-held distrust of US intentions. “The violation of the agreement once again proved the worthlessness and invalidity of the U.S. President’s signature. It proved that brutality, lying, and totalitarianism are the path of the Great Satan,” Mojtaba Khamenei said in his statement.
The statement attributed to Khamenei, still unseen since the war began, was read out on state television.
The remarks come amid escalating tensions and stalled diplomatic engagement between Tehran and Washington.
Earlier today, Iran announced that it is suspendingall ceasefire-related commitments under its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the United States.
Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said Tehran has “suspended” commitments to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the US last month. “The US has violated and suspended all its commitments within the framework of the Islamabad MOU. We have also suspended our commitments; we are not implementing them, and we are busy defending the country,” he said in a statement carried by the Fars news agency.
The US and Iran exchanged strikes aimed at infrastructure and military targets on Saturday. The widening strikes threatened civilians and services to them, including desalination plants for drinking water, while the global economy again was on alert.
