‘Mission Asmita’: Missing Agra Sisters Blow Lid Off ISIS-Linked Terror Network Spanning 6 States, 10 Held

The group was allegedly involved in radicalisation, illegal religious conversions, and promoting what they described as “Love Jihad”.

Police said investigation began after two sisters went missing from Agra in March.

In a coordinated crackdown named ‘Mission Asmita’, the Uttar Pradesh Police arrested 10 accused from six different states for allegedly working on a module inspired by ISIS, police said.
The arrests were made after 11 simultaneous raids were carried out across Goa, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. According to police, the group was involved in radicalisation, illegal religious conversions, and promoting what they described as “Love Jihad”.
The accused were identified as Ayesha alias SB Krishna from Goa; Ali Hasan alias Shekhar Roy and Osama from Kolkata; Rehman Qureshi from Agra; Abu Talib from Khalapar, Muzaffarnagar; Abur Rehman from Dehradun; Mohammad Ali from Rajasthan; Junaid Qureshi and Mohammad Ali from Jaipur; and Mustafa alias Manoj from Delhi.

Agra Commissioner Deepak Kumar said the investigation began after two sisters went missing from Agra in March. The probe led authorities to a network allegedly radicalising individuals and promoting religious conversions.
“This modus operandi is the signature style of ISIS,” DGP Rajeev Krishna said. “We believe this group has links to PFI, SDPI, and militant elements in Pakistan,” he added.

The group reportedly received foreign funding from sources in Canada, London, and Dubai. The police said different members had specific roles, including receiving and channeling funds, creating safe houses, and arranging transportation.
One of the radicalised victims was found to have a profile picture featuring an AK-47.
The Uttar Pradesh ATS also arrested two more accused identified as Sabroj alias Imran alias Buddhu, and Shahbuddin in connection with illegal religious conversions.
