The MEA has rejected claims regarding damage to Indian airbases from a Pakistani attack, presenting evidence during a press briefing.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Saturday debunked false claims that Indian airbases were damaged in a Pakistani military attack on Friday night. During a press briefing by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, Col Sofiya Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh on Saturday, photos of the unscathed Indian airbases were shared with a time-stamp. All airbases are operational, the MEA affirmed.
“It (Pakistan) ran a misinformation campaign that our airfields in Sirsa, Jammu, Pathankot, Bhatinda, Nalia and Bhuj were damaged, and its misinformation is completely wrong,” Colonel Qureshi said during the briefing.
Bizarre claims were made by Pakistani accounts on X, which claimed that missile strikes by Pakistan hit the Srinagar Airbase and Indian Army Brigade Headquarters on Friday night. Dated and old videos were used by these handles from incidents which did not even happen in India. The Press Information Bureau had earlier fact-checked these baseless claims.

On the other hand, Pakistan’s attempt to target airbases in India was met with precision counterstrikes at six Pakistani airbases. One of the key targets was Nur Khan Air Base in Rawalpindi, located approximately 10 kilometres from the capital, where Pakistan’s military headquarters is situated. According to Pakistani media, India targeted Nur Khan Airbase, Murid Airbase, and Shorkot Airbase, prompting the closure of Pakistan’s airspace until 12 PM on May 10.
India-Pakistan ceasefire
India has agreed to a ceasefire following a series of decisive final strikes on Pakistani airbases, which came in retaliation against Islamabad’s repeated border provocations and drone offensives over several consecutive nights.
The ceasefire announcement was made by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, who said that talks were initiated by Pakistan’s Director General of Military Operations (DGMO), who called on Indian’s DGMO this afternoon. Both sides agreed to stop all firing and military action on land, air and sea from 5 PM today, May 10. Another round of talks at the DGMO-level will be held on May 12.
