Heavy rush at Kedarnath Temple on day one of Char Dham Yatra leads to chaos, with devotees jumping barricades and crowding lines, raising serious safety concerns online.

The doors of Kedarnath Temple opened on April 22, marking the start of this year’s Char Dham Yatra. Thousands of devotees gathered on the very first day to seek blessings at the holy site. Reports say nearly 38,000 people visited the temple on day one. But with such a huge crowd arriving at once, managing the rush became difficult, leading to chaos in several areas near the temple.
Crowd Breaks Lines And Jumps Barricades
Amid the rush, a video from the temple area shows how things quickly got out of control. In the clip, people can be seen climbing over barricades and pushing their way into the queue. Many try to skip the line and move ahead, which creates even more pressure on the crowd. The situation looks tense, with people packed tightly together and struggling to move. At one point, the crowd becomes so dense that some people appear to get crushed between others. The visuals show how unsafe the situation was turning when basic order is not followed.
The clip was shared on X (formerly Twitter) with a caption that read, “Bhai, people like these should have their hands and feet broken, only then will they reform after turning this country into a heavy-penalty nation.”
People React To The Situation
The video led to strong reactions online, with many users expressing concern over safety and lack of discipline.
A user wrote, “WTF is happening, No place is left where people can go with family.”
Another said, “Tell me, there are lines everywhere in temples. These people want a separate VIP treatment. No heat or anything, just comfortably stay in line.” Some users pointed at poor arrangements. “Arrangements in the four dhams and 12 jyotirlingas should be unprecedented. It is wrong that there is no proper arrangement in Kedarnath, where people live in such exhaustion,” a comment read.
