Amid nationwide protests over the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls and demands for CEC Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation, Kapil Dev has urged youngsters to listen, act responsibly and avoid being misguided.

India’s 1983 World Cup-winning captain Kapil Dev has a message for the country’s youngsters.
“They (youngsters) should learn to listen and be more responsible. They are the future of the country and we cannot let them be misguided. They are not always right and they need to consider the fact that we have experience,” Kapil said while responding to a question from Times Now.
“Ours is a beautiful country and we cannot let it go in the wrong direction,” the 67-year-old former all-rounder said.
Kapil’s remarks came amid ongoing protests by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), founded by 31-year-old Abhijeet Dipke, calling for the removal of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar amid allegations of malpractice in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
The CJP, an outfit comprising youngsters, has launched protests across the country since an investigation exposed the alleged unilateral manner in which CEC Gyanesh Kumar handled the SIR process. According to the report, Election Commissioners Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi formally objected to his decisions on 14 occasions over 10 months concerning the SIR and modifications to Form 6, which is used to enrol new voters on the electoral rolls.
Demanding Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation, the CJP announced a nationwide Tiranga March on October 16. Earlier this month, however, Delhi Police and central forces stopped protesters from marching to Jantar Mantar, where the CJP had called for a demonstration on October 6.
Later, on October 10, the INDIA bloc, a political grouping of opposition parties, held a protest march.
