The White House has listed the India-US interim trade agreement among 127 promises that US President Donald Trump claims to have fulfilled during his second term, describing the deal as part of his administration’s efforts to secure improved trade arrangements with major global partners.

The report, titled ‘President Trump’s Second Term: Promises Made, Promises Kept, Results Delivered’, was released on Monday (local time), the final day of campaigning ahead of the US midterm elections. It claims to highlight the Trump administration’s achievements across several sectors, including trade, the economy, immigration, national security, energy and foreign policy.

On trade, the White House said Trump had secured “new and improved trade agreements” with major US trading partners, including India, the United Kingdom, the European Union, Japan, China, South Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines and Cambodia.

The inclusion of India in the list comes after New Delhi and Washington announced a framework for an Interim Agreement on reciprocal and mutually beneficial trade.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in India, the two countries have reached a framework for the interim arrangement and will promptly implement it while working towards finalising the agreement.

“The United States of America (United States) and India are pleased to announce that they have reached a framework for an Interim Agreement regarding reciprocal and mutually beneficial trade (Interim Agreement),” the statement said.

It further stated that both sides would work towards concluding a mutually beneficial Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA), consistent with the roadmap agreed upon in the Terms of Reference.

Tariffs Used As Leverage To Secure Trade Agreements

The White House credited Trump’s tariff policy with helping the US negotiate improved trade arrangements with countries accounting for more than half of global GDP.

The administration said tariffs were used as a strategic tool to address what it described as unfair trade practices, rebuild American manufacturing, strengthen supply chains and protect national security.

It also claimed that the agreements had created a more favourable economic playing field for American workers and businesses.

The White House maintained that Trump’s approach marked a departure from previous trade policies that, according to the administration, had allowed foreign countries to exploit the American economy and restrict access to their markets.

Trump Claims Credit For Peace In Eight Conflicts, Includes India-Pakistan

The White House also credited Trump with helping achieve peace in eight conflicts across the world, including between India and Pakistan, even though New Delhi has maintained that no other country, other than India and Pakistan, were involved in the negotiations to end the four-day confict.

In its foreign policy section, the administration said Trump had used his negotiating abilities to secure what it described as unprecedented diplomatic successes.

The other conflicts listed were Israel and Iran, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda, Cambodia and Thailand, Kosovo and Serbia, Egypt and Ethiopia, Armenia and Azerbaijan, and Israel and Hamas.

The administration also said Trump was pushing for trilateral talks to end the Russia-Ukraine war.

White House Lists 127 Achievements Across Key Sectors

Beyond trade and foreign policy, the 127-point document highlights the Trump administration’s claims on immigration, border security, taxation, energy, healthcare, education and national security.

On immigration, the White House claimed that illegal crossings at the US-Mexico border had fallen to historically low levels following measures introduced by Trump after taking office. It also highlighted the administration’s deportation drive and the resumption of border wall construction.
