THE Real Housewives of Beverly Hills might be getting an injection of billion dollar energy from a familiar face in the Kardashian circle, The U.S. Sun can exclusively reveal.
However, a contract dispute over a crucial detail that neither side can come to an agreement on is threatening to tank the whole Bravo deal.
A source has revealed that powerhouse entrepreneur, Emma Grede, 43, is in active talks to join the glitzy reality show for its upcoming season.
Emma has a long history with the famous family – most notably as a founding partner of Skims alongside Kim Kardashian.
She is also the co-founder and CEO of Khloe Kardashian‘s Good American brand and helped launch Safely, the chemical-free cleaning line from Kris Jenner.
And according to the insider, this isn’t the first time Emma has been approached to join the RHOBH cast.
“She’s been asked numerous times and always declined, but she’s seriously considering it this time due to the need to pump new life into her businesses,” a source claimed.
However, a massive roadblock has parked itself right in the middle of negotiations between Emma and production company, Evolution Media.
Evolution and Bravo’s infamous “Bethenny Clause” – which requires reality stars to give the network a percentage of any brands promoted on the show – is apparently what’s causing a complete standstill.
The unofficial name comes from RHONY star Bethenny Frankel, who famously skyrocketed her SkinnyGirl drink mix past $1 billion in revenue while filming early seasons of the Bravo show.
While the network did not receive a cut from Bethenny’s company, they have since made it standard to get a portion of sales for Housewives products featured on the show.
“The holdup is, Emma and Evolution can’t come to an agreement on the network getting a stake in sales of the company,” the insider claimed.
“Emma, understandably so, does not want to give up any equity or sales percentage to Bravo even if they advertise it on the show.
“They require a cut from all Housewives products shown, so that would be the reason the deal falls through.”
Emma, who has also appeared as a Shark on Shark Tank, has built a staggering empire reportedly worth upwards of $400 million alongside reality TV’s first family.
However, aside from the runaway train that is Skims which is worth over $1 billion, Emma’s other brands have reportedly taken a massive hit, prompting her sudden willingness to step in front of the Bravo cameras.
“She wants to give a new platform to her brands that aren’t selling as well.
“Besides Skims, many of her businesses have taken a downturn, and this could breathe new life into bringing in consumers.”
The main priority for the British-born mogul? The body-inclusive denim brand she famously launched with Khloé, 41, a decade ago.
“Good American’s annual revenue and monthly sales volumes have been declining over the past year, couple of years.
“She’d use the show to boost the brand and use her platform to boost her businesses as a whole.”
The business downturn aligns with a chilly shift in Emma’s relationship with her long-time partner and co-founder, Khloé.
