THE eerie final movements of a flight attendant found lifeless by a dumpster at a Hawaiian hotel are helping shape the investigation into her shock death.
Popular SouthWest airlines crew member Jenny Lupton mysteriously died while on a layover in Waikiki last week, with very few clues about what actually happened.
The 50-year-old mom from Oklahoma was found around 6am on Thursday, August 20, near the Hilton Hawaiian Village Resort.
Her relatives say they were later told by the Honolulu Department of the Medical Examiner that she appeared to have fallen from the balcony of her 24th-floor room.
“We have initiated an Unattended Death investigation, and no information will be released at this time,” a spokeswoman from the Honolulu PD told The U.S. Sun.
Nothing, however, which led up to her tragic death raised alarm bells.
Lupton had reportedly spent time with a fellow flight attendant before getting a new tattoo — the outline of a hibiscus flower with deep meaning for her family.
She is said to have then messaged her sister afterward, telling her she planned to have the flower colored in when she returned home.
The evening involved a night out with a fellow flight attendant, with her sister, Tresa Lupton, telling local media that the pair danced, had a good time before taking a visit to the tattoo parlor.
“She just went out with one of her flight attendant friends, and they danced and had a good time,” Tresa said.
“She had gotten a tattoo while she was there.”
The hibiscus, however, wasn’t just another piece of bodyart.
The sisters had planned to get matching tattoos in honor of their father – Jenny had already told her sister she would finish the design once she got back home.
Sometime before dawn, however, everything changed.
A hotel employee reportedly discovered Jenny’s body near a dumpster, according to her sister.
Her family says they were not contacted by the medical examiner until the following morning.
They are now trying to piece together what happened between Jenny’s last known moments and the discovery of her body.
Honolulu police have confirmed that they are investigating her death as an unattended death.
Authorities have not released further details, including whether anyone witnessed what happened.
The family reported that they were told more than 70 cameras cover the area and that police are reviewing surveillance footage.
But relatives say they still don’t have the answers they desperately want.
They have, though, ruled out suicide.
“The timeline doesn’t make sense”
“We strongly believe that she didn’t do this intentionally,” Tresa said.
“And so that leads us to think it was either some kind of freak accident or someone harmed her.”
“We just want to know what happened.”
The family is now preparing to travel to Hawaii themselves, hoping to understand what happened during Jenny’s final hours.
“We want to see for ourselves how this all went down,” Tresa said.
“The timeline doesn’t make sense, and we are afraid that maybe there was foul play.”
Lupton had much to love for. She was a mother to a 15-year-old son, whom relatives described as the light of her life.
