Four-storey building collapses in Delhi, several trapped under debris, 8 rescued

A four-storey building collapsed in Delhi’s Seelampur area around 7 am, trapping several people; rescue ops are ongoing with six feared trapped and four rescued so far.

A four-storey building collapsed around 7:00 am on Friday morning in the Janata Mazdoor Colony of Seelampur, located in northeast Delhi’s Welcome area. The structure came crashing down suddenly, trapping several people under the debris.

According to the Fire Department, eight individuals have been rescued, seven have been shifted to JPC Hospital and one to GTB Hospital for treatment so far, while some are still feared trapped. According to a bystander, eight to ten people used to live in the building, including three children and three women.

The National Disaster Response Force along with Senior Officers along with the Fire Brigade and other agencies are present at the site, and rescue operations are underway. The exact cause of the collapse has not yet been determined.
