Floods have affected 173 villages across 13 districts of Uttar Pradesh, hitting 84,362 residents. The state government says the situation is under control as rescue, relief and warning operations continue.

Floods have affected 173 villages in 13 districts of Uttar Pradesh, with 84,362 people and around 13,058 hectares of area impacted, officials said on Tuesday.
The state government said the flood situation was normal and under control. District administrations have been kept fully active to move affected people to safer places and provide food, medical care and essential relief material.
In a statement, the Office of State Relief Commissioner Hrishikesh Bhaskar Yashod said, “So far, 173 villages in 13 districts have been affected by floods. These include Badaun, Bahraich, Ballia, Barabanki, Bijnor, Farrukhabad, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Gonda, Kasganj, Lakhimpur Kheri, Muzaffarnagar, Sitapur and Unnao.”
The control room of the Relief Commissioner’s Office is in continuous contact with flood-hit districts to monitor the situation, and complaints and information received on the 1070 helpline are being acted upon promptly.
Yashod reviewed the flood situation and relief and rescue operations on Tuesday, his office said. He directed district magistrates to shift affected people to relief camps or other safe places as required, and to ensure food, medical facilities and essential relief material for families.
He also ordered officials to keep all flood outposts fully operational, continuously monitor river water levels and the flood situation, and ensure adequate availability of boats, motorboats, rescue teams and other resources. A total of 1,589 flood outposts have been set up across the state. Of the 1,263 flood shelters prepared, 41 are currently in use, with 1,045 people staying there.
So far, 4,845 people have been moved from flood-affected areas to safer locations.
