Delhi Capitals hit a historical low after failing to make the playoffs in the 2025 Indian Premier League. The Capitals were beaten by the Mumbai Indians by 59 runs in a virtual knockout at the Wankhede Stadium. DC have achieved an embarrassing feat which no team in IPL’s history has managed before

The Delhi Capitals (DC) hit a historic low after losing to the Mumbai Indians (MI) by 59 runs on Wednesday (May 21) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The result ended their hopes of reaching the playoffs. MI confirmed the spot in the second round and joined Gujarat Titans (GT), Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), and Punjab Kings (PBKS).
DC had a dramatic decline as they started the season as the trend-setters by winning their first four matches in the ongoing campaign in what were Axar Patel’s first four games as captain. Later, they won two of their next games and found themselves in a comfortable position with six victories in eight matches.
However, the Capitals are now winless in their last five matches, with four defeats and one washout. It is with pointing that they shared points against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in a game they found themselves in a losing position in.
