Faridabad stalker who shot teen arrested, says he fired in rage after rejection

A 30-year-old man was arrested in Faridabad for stalking and shooting a 17-year-old JEE aspirant after she refused to talk to him. The accused confessed he fired at her in a fit of rage, police said.

Faridabad Police on Wednesday arrested a 30-year-old man accused of stalking and shooting a 17-year-old JEE aspirant in broad daylight earlier this week.

The accused, identified as Jitendra alias Jatin Mangla, allegedly confessed during interrogation that he opened fire at the girl in a fit of rage after she refused to talk to him, police said.

According to officials, the victim, Kanishka, a Class 12 science student, was returning home from the library in Faridabad’s Shyam Colony on Monday evening when Mangla attacked her. CCTV footage showed the accused waiting for her in the street, approaching her, and shooting at her at point-blank range. One bullet struck her shoulder, while another grazed her abdomen.

The teenager, a resident of Bhagat Singh Colony, was immediately rushed to a hospital, where she remains under treatment. Her condition is stated to be stable.

Police said an FIR was registered at City Ballabgarh police station, and a team from the Crime Branch, Sector 65, arrested Mangla from Sarmathla village near Sohna in Gurugram.
