Muskan Sharma, a 21-year-old social media creator, was murdered in Delhi after trying to distance herself from Imran, a gym trainer with a troubling past.
Twenty-one-year-old Muskan Sharma was allegedly trying to distance herself from Imran after learning about his alleged drug use and criminal background, police said. Her decision to step away from him, investigators believe, may have been linked to the events that led to her murder in Delhi’s Tilak Nagar.
Muskan, who was building a presence on social media, was allegedly killed by Imran, a gym trainer, after she decided to stay away from him. According to police, Imran could not accept her decision and allegedly went to her house, where he stabbed her multiple times.
After the alleged murder, Imran reportedly took Muskan’s iPhone with him. Investigators suspect that he wanted to remove or destroy digital evidence connected to the crime, according to Times Now sources.
Police said Imran allegedly tried to delete data from the phone but was unsuccessful. He later dumped the iPhone near a drain in West Delhi, where it was recovered by the police and then led police to Imran.
Police Seek Instagram Help To Access Digital Evidence
The iPhone has now become an important part of the investigation. Police have not been able to unlock the device and have sought assistance from Instagram to examine possible digital evidence linked to Muskan and the accused.
Investigators are looking into conversations, social media activity and other digital links that could help establish what happened before and after the murder.
The digital trail could also help police understand the relationship between Muskan and Imran and whether there were earlier signs of threats, harassment or attempts to control her, as per Times Now sources.
Imran Arrested After Police Encounter
While the investigation was underway, Imran allegedly tried to escape. Delhi Police’s Special Staff later tracked him down in the Rajouri Garden area.
According to police, an encounter took place between the Special Staff team and Imran near Nala Road in Rajouri Garden. Police said Imran opened fire at the team after spotting the officers.
A total of 11 rounds were fired during the exchange, according to police. The accused allegedly fired four rounds, while the police team fired seven rounds in response.
Imran was hit by three bullets in both legs and was subsequently overpowered and arrested. A pistol and cartridges were also recovered from his possession, police said. He was taken to a hospital for treatment.
