Divya Dutta has shared a horrifying eve-teasing experience her sister faced and revealed how her mother’s lessons helped her protect her. The actress shared that someone was about to pinch her sister, but she showed courage and stopped him.
In an interview with Zoom, Divya Dutta said, “He was about to pinch my sister’s butt, and I just held him. Now, where did that confidence come from? Because I was psyched. It came from my mother. I just held him and whacked his wits. Everyone turned around, and then everyone came to help. That boy just ran away. This is passing it on, this confidence and standing up for someone you love.”
She stated that her mother played a significant role in shaping her courage to speak up. The actress also shared another incident from her childhood, when a boy teased her while she was returning from coaching. When Divya informed her mother about this incident, she made sure that she took a stand, spoke up, and confronted the boy, ensuring the harassment stopped.
Divya also spoke about her early days in the industry and how she found her voice and avoided uncomfortable situations. She said, “Your choices speak. I have taken the longer route. I have waited for things when I want to do things my way. And I think it’s a very small industry. People know. When you say a lot of no’s, then afterwards your yeses also come. That takes time. You’ve got to learn how to say no; the way shouldn’t be ruffling feathers, but you’ve got to say no.”
