DAD’S HEARTACHE Lindsay Clancy’s ex-husband reveals last moment he saw 3 kids alive as he gives brave 2hr testimony at her murder trial

  • July 28, 2026

THE ex-husband of a Massachusetts woman on trial for strangling their three children to death with exercise bands has revealed the last time he saw his children alive.

Patrick Clancy took the stand as the first witness in Lindsay Clancy’s murder trial on Monday and shared how he kissed his kids goodbye one last time before he found them dead in the basement of their home in 2023.

Lindsay and Patrick’s three children, Callan (left), Dawson (middle) and Cora (right) were found dead in the basement of their home on January 24, 2023Credit: Reuters

Lindsay allegedly asked Patrick to pick up dinner on the night of January 24, 2023, and while he was gone, she strangled their three children, five-year-old daughter Cora, three-year-old son Dawson and eight-month-old son Callan.

Soon after, the labor and delivery nurse jumped out of a second-story window of their home, ultimately leaving her in a wheelchair and paralyzed from the waist down.

She has admitted to killing her children, but her attorney has argued she shouldn’t be found criminally responsible for murder as she was suffering from postpartum psychosis.

Patrick believes Lindsay killed their three kids because she began “hearing a compelling and unrecognizable singular male voice that told her ‘this is your last chance’ and that she had to ‘take them’ with [her],” according to the wrongful death lawsuit he filed, People reported.

Lindsay remained stoic during most of the trial’s opening day but was seen shuddering multiple times in her wheelchair and wiping away tears as the Commonwealth discussed the memory of her children and how they died.

Patrick’s testimony was brought to an abrupt halt when the judge adjourned the court until Wednesday.

During his two hours at the stand, Patrick revealed Lindsay told him about her thoughts of “hurting the kids” in December 2022.

During the opening statements, the court was shown graphic images from the scene of their home, including the knife Massachusetts mom Lindsay used to harm herself, which was placed next to a mug that read “Because Kids.”

After calling the attorneys to the sidebar for a brief moment, the judge announced the court was breaking for the day while Patrick was still on the stand.

The trial will pick back up on Wednesday at 9am ET.

Patrick sighed deeply after the judge’s announcement as he looked down at the ground.

Lindsay also sighed deeply while fidgeting with her hands as the courtroom emptied.

Just before 5pm on January 24, 2023, Patrick was in the basement of their home working when he got a text from Lindsay who was upstairs with the kids.

Lindsay suggested they get takeout for dinner as it had been a busy day and she didn’t get a chance to cook anything.

She suggested they order from a local restaurant called ThreeV and the pair exchanged a few more text messages about what they wanted to eat and about Callan’s nap.

Lindsay placed the order and Patrick went upstairs before getting ready to leave and grab dinner.

“I took Callan for a minute and I rocked him by my knees, kissed Cora on the head and said, ‘be right back,’” he said.

He recalled seeing Dawson on the couch eating chicken nuggets.

Patrick described Lindsay’s demeanor as “normal” as she stood in the doorway of their living room, near the basement door, as he left.

Lindsay’s mood was improved in the days before kids’ deaths

Patrick said he went skiing with Cora on January 16, 2023 and left his two younger children home with Lindsay.

He said he had no concerns about leaving them alone with her despite Lindsay’s past statements about harming the children and suicidal tendencies.

“Her mood seemed better. She was more active. She was able to partake in more things,” he said.

Patrick also testified that January 24, 2023 was one of Lindsay’s “best days” after she struggled with her mental health in the months leading up to that day.

He said she did not make any mentions of having thoughts of harming the kids that day or experiencing suicidal thoughts.

Patrick recalled Lindsay seeming happy and in a good mood as she played with the kids outside and built a snowman.
