Pune Police detain Neeraj in Ketan Agarwal murder case, allege Siya and Chetan planned the killing at a cafe.
In the latest development in the Ketan Agarwal murder case, the Pune Police have detained Neeraj, a friend of accused Chetan, in connection with the Ketan murder case and are investigating his possible involvement. The investigators also found that Siya and Chetan allegedly planned the murder during meetings at a cafe and made multiple attempts before allegedly killing Ketan during a trek at Lohgad Hill.
Earlier, the police claimed that Siya Goyal, was under pressure from her family to go ahead with their marriage despite having reservations about it.
According to police sources quoted by ANI, investigators reached this conclusion after questioning the accused and examining digital and circumstantial evidence. A senior police official said Siya wanted more time for herself and was not mentally prepared for marriage.
Police further alleged that Siya had developed feelings for co-accused Chetan Chaudhary, but was not willing to marry him either. Investigators suspect that she intended to continue her relationship with Chaudhary while allegedly plotting Ketan’s murder.
The probe found that Siya and Chaudhary first met at a Diwali party last year and gradually grew close, police said.
Ketan, 26, died after falling into a gorge at Lohagad Fort near Pune on June 18. Initially, the incident was treated as an accidental fall after Siya informed his family that he had slipped during a trek. However, police now allege that Siya, 20, and Chaudhary, 22, pushed him into the gorge.
Investigators said CCTV footage from Lohagad Fort proved crucial in the case. The footage showed a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt following Ketan and Siya from some distance. Police later identified the man as Chaudhary and noted that he was wearing a hoodie despite temperatures being around 33 degrees Celsius.
“While investigating the case, we stumbled upon certain circumstances surrounding the incident that raised suspicion and prompted a deeper probe. We checked CCTV cameras installed at the ticket counter of the fort, where we spotted Ketan and Siya walking together,” a police officer involved in the investigation said.
