Breaking: Magnitude 4.2 Earthquake Strikes Bay of Bengal

The tremor was recorded at 07:26:35 IST at a depth of 35 km. No immediate damage was reported.

A moderate earthquake of magnitude 4.2 struck the Bay of Bengal on Tuesday morning, according to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS). The tremor was recorded at 07:26:35 IST at a depth of 35 km.

“EQ of M: 4.2, On: 02/12/2025 07:26:35 IST, Lat: 20.56 N, Long: 92.31 E, Depth: 35 Km, Location: Bay of Bengal,” the National Centre for Seismology posted on X.

No immediate damage was reported.

A similar earthquake of magnitude 4.3 had struck the Indian Ocean region on November 21. “EQ of M: 4.3, On: 21/11/2025 02:41:20 IST, Lat: 3.00 N, Long: 95.58 E, Depth: 10 Km, Location: Indian Ocean,” the NCS said.

An earthquake measuring 3.2 on Richter scale hit parts of Haryana late on Monday evening, according to the National Center for Seismology. The earthquake struck at around 9.22 pm and its epicenter was located in Haryana’s Sonipat at a depth of 5 kilometres.

Earlier on Sunday, an earthquake of magnitude 4.4 hit Nepal’s Bajhang district of Sudur Paschim province. There were no immediate reports of any damage caused by the earthquake, officials said.
