An explosion damaged a railway track in Rajasthan’s Sri Ganganagar district, near the India-Pakistan international border, prompting authorities to cancel train services between Anupgarh and Suratgarh.

The explosion damaged a few railway sleepers on the Anupgarh-Suratgarh railway track.
Conspiracy To Blow Up Passenger Train?
The explosion took place around 45 minutes after a train travelling from Anupgarh to Suratgarh had passed through the area at approximately 9 pm.
The impact of the explosion was significant, with its sound reportedly heard up to 200 metres away. The blast also created a crater nearly two feet deep beneath the railway track.
Following the incident, teams from the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), Criminal Investigation Department (CID), dog squad, security agencies and the Railways reached the spot to investigate.
A team of security personnel arrived at the site around 2 am. Train services between Anupgarh and Suratgarh have been suspended until 9 am as a precautionary measure.
Speaking about the incident, SP Sri Ganganagar, Harishankar, said, “Two cement pillars supporting railway tracks were damaged in a suspected blast near 50 GB village on the Anupgarh-Suratgarh railway line. An FSL team is being called to the spot to examine the evidence. It is too early to ascertain the exact nature of the incident. There is no established link with the 7.5 kg RDX recently recovered in the border region. An investigation is underway.”
Meanwhile, the railway track in the Suratgarh–Anupgarh section suffered damage after the blast. RPF personnel and concerned railway officials immediately reached the site and found two track sleepers (track components) damaged.
