The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched the second day of its Jan Ashirwad Yatra from Deosal Mandir, aiming to enhance its outreach before the Assembly elections.
After drawing a massive turnout during its launch on February 28 at Dhekiajuli, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday rolled out the second day of its Jan Ashirwad Yatra from Deosal Mandir in Jagiroad, stepping up its statewide outreach ahead of the forthcoming Assembly elections. The yatra is being led by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma along with senior party leaders. Conceived as a large-scale public engagement exercise, the campaign is travelling through key constituencies including Morigaon, Nagaon, Dhemaji, and Tinsukia, with daily road journeys of approximately 70–80 kilometres to facilitate direct interaction with voters in both rural and urban areas.
Extensive District-Level Coverage
During the current phase, the yatra is passing through several districts and Assembly segments such as Gohpur, Bihpuria, Jonai, Tingkhong, Naharkatia, Golaghat, Digboi, Nalbari, and Rangia.
State Minister Pijush Hazarika said that in some locations, crowds of 25,000–30,000 people were seen even until 1 a.m., which, according to him, reflects the public’s trust. During the second day of the yatra, bulldozers were decorated at certain places and used to shower flowers, which the Bharatiya Janata Party described as a symbol of support for the government’s “land reclamation policy,” while the opposition criticised the move.
Party leaders said the objective is to connect with nearly one lakh people each day through roadshows, public meetings, and community-level interactions. In areas not directly covered by the travelling caravan, the BJP is organising parallel Jan Ashirwad Sabhas to broaden outreach and ensure the campaign’s messaging reaches a wider audience. Strong Public participation reported significant public participation has been reported at multiple locations. In Dhekiajuli, large gatherings were witnessed as residents turned out in considerable numbers to attend events and express support for the government’s development agenda, according to party sources.
PM Modi’s Visit Expected to Boost Momentum. The campaign is expected to gain further traction with the scheduled visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Assam on March 13–14. He is slated to attend programmes in Kokrajhar, Guwahati, and Silchar. The visit will culminate in a major youth rally at Khanapara on March 15, which party leaders believe will energise young voters and grassroots workers.
