The BCCI has put the onus on the Indian government to take a call on the Bangladesh series. India were scheduled to tour Bangladesh for a white-ball series in 2025.
The BCCI has once again put the onus on the Government of India to give a green signal for the Bangladesh tour. The Men in Blue were scheduled to tour Bangladesh for a white-ball series in 2025, but the series didn’t take place due to political instability in Bangladesh. The series was expected to take place in September this year, but India won’t tour Bangladesh as they will be playing a three-match T20I series against Afghanistan. Sources told Times Now that the BCCI is in talks with the government as the board can’t decide on its own. The BCCI will arrange the window for the series once it gets the clearance from the Indian government.
Sources also told Times Now that BCCI’s relations with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have improved of late. The two teams last played a bilateral series in 2024, when India hosted Bangladesh for two Tests and three T20Is.
Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman was in high demand in the IPL 2026 mini-auction and he joined Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for Rs 9.20 crore. However, the BCCI asked KKR to release him due to the worsening relations between the two countries.
As a result, the Bangladesh Cricket Board refused to participate in the 2026 T20 World Cup. India and Sri Lanka jointly hosted the ICC event in February and March. Pakistan played all their matches in Sri Lanka.
