Anthropic, an AI company known for the Claude models, is preparing for a US IPO, with Indian-origin executives Krishna Rao and Rahul Patil playing pivotal roles.

As artificial intelligence (AI) company Anthropic prepares for a potential stock market debut in the United States, two Indian-origin executives are playing key roles in its growth strategy: Chief Financial Officer Krishna Rao and Chief Technology Officer Rahul Patil.
Anthropic, the company behind the Claude family of AI models, filed for a US initial public offering (IPO) on October 26. The proposed listing comes as the company seeks to capitalise on growing demand for AI while navigating the high costs of computing infrastructure and intensifying competition in the sector. The company is targeting a potential mid-November listing, according to reports.
Rao and Patil oversee two areas central to Anthropic’s next phase of growth: financial management and technology infrastructure. While Rao’s remit includes financial strategy and operations, Patil is responsible for the engineering systems underpinning the company’s AI products.
Krishna Rao: The CFO steering capital strategy
Krishna Rao joined Anthropic as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in 2024 where he oversees the company’s financial strategy and operations, helping build the financial foundation needed to support the development and deployment of its AI technology.
Before Anthropic, Rao served as CFO of Fanatics Commerce and held leadership roles at Airbnb, healthcare payments company Cedar, and investment firm Blackstone.
Anthropic’s IPO filing is expected to bring greater investor scrutiny to its financial performance, growth plans and spending on computing infrastructure.
