Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring has resigned, with the party likely to announce his successor within 24-48 hours. Former minister Vijay Inder Singla is reportedly the frontrunner, while Pargat Singh, Charanjit Singh Channi and Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa are also being considered.

Amarinder Singh Raja Warring has resigned as the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president, with the party likely to announce his successor within the next 24 to 48 hours, sources said.
Former minister Vijay Inder Singla is understood to be the frontrunner for the post, while Jalandhar Cantonment MLA Pargat Singh, former Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi and Gurdaspur MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa are also being considered, according to sources.
Congress sources said the party leadership has finalised Singla’s name and an official announcement could be made on October 2.
Warring is expected to travel to Delhi on Thursday and meet Congress leader Rahul Gandhi within the next day or two, sources said.
