Four people, including the alleged kingpin of the drug trafficking ring, have been arrested in connection with the matter. Moreover, three police personnel have been suspended for varying reasons.

The consignment was recovered from a pickup truck near the Nepal border.

A consignment of cannabis (ganja) weighing 419 kg was recovered from a pickup truck in Bihar’s Madhubani district, with an angle of police collusion suspected in the case. The seizure was made in an area near the international border with Nepal.

Four people, including the main accused named Vinod Sahni, have been arrested in connection with the matter. Moreover, three police personnel have been suspended for varying reasons.

The disciplinary action against the policemen came after the investigation into the case allegedly revealed that the driver of a Dial 112 emergency response vehicle colluded with the traffickers.

A sub-inspector assigned to the unit has also been put on suspension over his alleged absence from duty. The revelations of the probe also prompted senior officials to suspend the in-charge of the local police station on charges of dereliction of duty.

Madhubani Superintendent of Police (SP) Yogendra Kumar said that negligence or involvement in illegal activities at any level of the police hierarchy will not be tolerated by the department.
